Not a fan. Couldn't wait to get out of the dorm and into an apartment.....Granted the rooms are more than 8 feet wide now. But seriously, what school requires sophomores to live on campus? Sounds like a "revenue enhancing" maneuver to me.

Also horribly unfair to the less financially well off students. Campus housing is thousands of dollars a year more than an apartment. Will keep many kids from being able to attend SMU.

So if/when we build the IPF, where does it go?

IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT OUR FRIEND R. GERALD TURNER RECENTLY TURNED DOWN ALLOCATING ANY LAND TO A NEW INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY.

Good. I want an IPF, too, but we are a bit land-locked and I would prefer us to keep improving the actual school.

How about building an IPF in the basement of a building? Perhaps we could build one underneath Ford?

I'm not sure what the water table is in this area, so it may not be a feasible idea.

Interesting suggestion. How far down did they dig for the dart rail ?

Wow you guys have to be kidding...the costs for excavation would be huge and would need to be deep ( height) for passing drills, punting etc. which would make it even more cost prohibitive......Not even a possibility to entertain. The costs for a simple indoor training facility above ground may be feasible, but an excavated underground facility would be way to cost sensitive.
We really need to strike a deal with Highland Park somehow for its use of their indooor practice facility. The land around SMU is very expensive marketwise, and since SMU is basically land locked, it may never make financial sense to build an indoor training facility, unfortunatly. There has to be a financial return on investment for the building of a structure on SMU land, and an indoor facility may be never be 'penciled', IMHO.
The piece of land that COULD work would be the student activity football fields next to Moody, as it could be transformed for both the students, as it always has been, AND for the use of the football team.

Wouldn't this be the most logical thing to do anyway. How many fields do we need? We have Ford for when the weather is nice. I think the "grass" will hold up, and I doubt anyone else needs it at 7:00am.

There will be new IM fields built as part of the Bush Library site plan. Maybe build at the old IM field (as Ponyscott suggests)

not really...the ave class sizes these days are at or above the number of beds they will be making available.

If anything I would guess that this will cement the size of the UG population further.

Soccer people tell me the field at Wescott is already about as small as possible. How about we build a nice soccer facility across 75, and replace Wescott with the IPF? It's the logical place next to the stadium and somewhat hidden anyway.

Where did you get this information from? It's wrong.

First piece of evidence:
According to President Turner, and this is a direct quote, "Bishop will continue to be the 'ceremonial' entrance to campus, while SMU Boulevard will become the 'functional' entrance to campus."

Second piece of evidence:
