Bishop will never be closed from Mockingbird - that is just incorrect.

And the sophomore housing plan is the best thing to happen to SMU since June Jones - it will increase the connection to the university that is missing for many of our students as they escape to aptartmentville as sophomores - basically making us a glorified UH style commuter school - which is why so many of our seniors still pine away for their college affiliations - and never go to games - that will all be vastly imporved now. Also as they get more connected to SMU our alumni giving percentages should continue to go up which is important.

Also as to cost - typically at other universities that have the sophomore residency requirement - 90% of the time the housing is less expensive then apartments - SMU will price the housing accordingly.

It is REALLY going to improve our university.

Doing a better track and field elsewhere and doing IPF at Wolcott is a good idea - but might not be practical given geographic constraints.... also - what about putting a level or two of the new garage next to Moody underground and putting the IPF on top of the garage. You dont punt in them typically anyway - so it needs to be only as tall as it needs to be for passing drills. Just a thought.

I hope they bring the price of housing down because it cost me less than 1300/mo for 1700sqft 3 blocks from campus and I know for a fact that price per sqft in the dorms isn't nearly that good.

Screw the indoor practice facility. We need an indoor Boulevard facility for the fans!

A large portion of my student loan debt came from having to live in the dorms. I'm sure everyone from HP finds it a necessity, but it wouldn't hurt to have dorms that don't include maids to clean your bathroom to make it a little more affordable for us in the proletariat.

2-year housing requirements are seen as a negative by applicants. I would never have applied to a school that had that requirement. Nor could I have afforded to attend SMU with that requirement.

If you are concerned about how much people are donating, tell the fund raising office to stop calling so often. If they didn't call every 3-4 weeks, I might feel more generous when that number pops up in my caller ID and actually answer. Living on campus an extra year would not change that.

The pressure to move off campus should be less. I like the quad idea too. BTW, will the SMU Bookstore, CVS, le Madeleine, etc. remain where they are?

As for a IPF, please don't put it on the corner of Mockingbird and Bishop, plus we still need an outdoor practice field anyway. A large warehouse looking building would only distract from the traditional entrance; despite SMU Blvd. becoming the common entrance for most people. If someone wants to write a check big enough for a IFP, put it east of Central would be my suggestion.

The Master Campus Plan is enriching our university. The campus is a stunner.

next time you're near Highland Park HS, check out their IPF. it's not a bad looking structure. i'll try ot post some photos this week.

if SMU does one thing right, it's build good looking structures. We have the nicest parking garages in DFW.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
