It was a pass and 55-yard run, with the ball getting knocked loose and UTEP recovering on the 1-yard line.

I think a worse loss was a night game where SMU lost with no time left following a go-ahead touchdown (YAY!) and several bonehead defense gaffs (boo) that allowed the other team to get within field-goal range - only to have the first attempt (which missed - YAY!) mysteriously negated by a timeout that should never have been called and was allowed by the refs (Boo), and then they get a second chance and got the winning field goal, sending SMU to the lockers in defeat (double-Boo) and the fans home in utter dismay (triple-boo).
