Well now, this is interesting

Postby cutter » Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:31 am

from DMN:
" 2. Still Not Enough at SMU

The Ponies are coming off their first bowl appearance since The Death Penalty, but they're still not generating much buzz around campus, Dallas, or anywhere else. Only 16,662 showed up at Ford Stadium last week for the home opener. It's too bad. June Jones has a nice team. But it takes a while to re-build a fan base. Ask TCU.

SMU is offering $10 tickets for its home game on Saturday afternoon against Washington State High School. Won't matter. This takes years, and don't be surprised if Jones eventually splits."

Seriously? The nerd bowl? Washington state high school? Some fake Florida school? What a sophomoric way to write.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

I'm guessing it's the new economic world of journalism: understaff to survive and steal from whatever random source to fill space, regardless of quality.

Let me know when the DMN has college football coverage worth paying attention too

He should have said the same thing about Mack Brown. That is actually more likely to happen sooner given they already have a succession plan for when that happens.

He should have checked with Oscar before writing that.

with continued success, you can expect to hear this over and over; JJ will be pursued; let's just hope SMU can keep him happy and that he wants to finish the job he started

How many fans were at the home opener last year? Let's subtract any visitors except about 40 to make it an even comparison. Also, how many students were at last years opener compared with this year? Also subtract all the bussed in groups. Without any hard numbers, it seems like there was a better crowd this year.
