Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice SquadGlad he made somewhere and that it is back here.
With only 3 CBs (is that right?), he might have a decent chance of moving to the 53 man roster.
Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice SquadSorry it's the Cowboys, but GLAD YOU'RE BACK IN THE NFL!
Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice SquadSo what was up with that Baltimore thing. Just a negotiating tactic with the player they wanted on the roster? Brian did not get the lingo fast enough?
Wierd. Go Ponies!!

Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice Squad
They may have just wanted a closer look at Bryan, but had to sign him to the 53 man roster to get him away from Dallas. Once there, they may have thought "Eh, good PS material", but lost out to the 'Boys again. -CoS
Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice SquadI hear they wanted to use him as a kick/punt returner. But when they signed Prince Miller, after he was cut by New England, they thought he would be better at the job. So Bryan became expendable.

With Newman being prone to injuries, I agree. He definitely has a chance. I still don't know what Wade was thinking by only having 3 CBs.
Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice SquadMr. Bryan McCann: "LOL I'm glad to be BACK in Dallas playing for the Cowboys. This is my real home, Let's go!"
"I'm always going to do things on the highest level. If Coach Jones decides to fire me after this meeting, I'm going to pack my things and drive away at the highest level!" --Coach Frank Ganz
Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice SquadWhat is the rule on the 53-man thing? I understand by picking him up off of waivers Baltimore had to put him on the roster, but for how long. A post on another thread mentioned something about it counting against their 53-man for a minimum of 3 weeks. Is that the case? Does this mean they have to pay him at least league minimum for the 3 weeks? If so, swapping 1 week of PS pay for 3 weeks of NFL pay turned out to be a good deal for him.
Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice SquadFound this explanation.

Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice Squadas I understood, if McCann made the 53 man roster, then they have to pay him a full-year minimum salary. so he would be pulling down a nice chunk in addition to the $5,000 per week he can get with the Cowboys.
does anyone know if that's correct, of if Baltimore only has to pay him a pro-rated amount of the full minimum rookie salary? TP
Re: ESPN: McCann to Cowboys Practice Squad
The answer is in the post above yours.
Okay...maybe not. He didn't actually go from a practice squad to the 53 man roster, but surely there was something in his contract about that subject. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
