Good. There should be consequences when you actually do something illegal, immoral, or unethical. There are a lot of athletes who simply don't get that. Sure, the college system has its share of problems, and has too many restrictions on college athletes, but you have to play by the rules that govern the system.

I will not debate the morality or ethics with you, but simply focus on the 'legality'.
Exactly how many of the past 30 Heisman winners do you think received illegal inducements to attend their university?
Vince Young is once again clamoring for that 2005 Heisman.
Do you really believe VY's received nothing than a UT education while in Austin?
That is extremely naive IMO.

The University of Success and Charm has already expressed "our" feelings on the matter by returning the University's copy of the Heisman and removing all references to RB including his former No. 5 Jersey from the Coliseum. USC = SMU in too many ways so BE NICE! FIGHT ON PONY UP

One of the greatest honors of my life was comparing Jesuit Irish Whiskey with Protestant Irish Whiskey last September 10 through 11, 2010. For me, it was a dream come true.
But I know that the comparison of Irish Whiskey is not mine alone. Far from it. I know that my indulgence was made possible by the discipline and hard work of the distillers (Bushmill and Jameson), the steady guidance of my coach (Thaddeus), the inspiration of the Ponyfans, and the unconditional laughter of my family and friends. And I know that anyone (un)fortunate enough to reach total Irish inebriation enters into a family of sorts. Each individual carries the first imbibing of the Celtic Nectar always and each one remembers its legacy far beyond its initial effect.
It is for these reasons that I have made the difficult decision to forfeit my title as Jesuit/Protestant/Trojan Lightweight of 2010. The persistent media speculation of all Ponyfans regarding allegations dating back to last Friday evening at the HBWFM has been both painful and distracting. In no way should the storm around these allegations reflect in any way on the dignity of this title, nor on any other institutions or individual (even though in all reality "Thad made me do it"). Nor should it distract from outstanding performances and hard-earned achievements either in the past, present or future.
For the rest of my days, I will continue to strive to demonstrate through my actions and words that I was deserving of the confidence placed in me by the distillers (Bushmill and Jameson), the steady guidance of my coach (Thaddeus), the inspiration of the Ponyfans, and the unconditional laughter of my family and friends. I would like to begin in this effort by turning a negative situation into a positive one by working with Ponyfans to establish an educational program which will assist student-athletes and their families avoid some of the mistakes that I made. I am determined to view this event as an opportunity to help others and to advance the values and mission of the Irish Whiskey Distilling Industry.
I will forever appreciate the honor bestowed upon me. While this decision is heart-breaking, I find solace in knowing that the award was made possible by the support and love of so many. Those are gifts that can never be taken away for at least 96 hours.

College football live last night discussed this issue, as well as usc losing scholarships and how reggie bush would affect other athletes by punishing the school. Craig James was part of the panel discussing the issue. I was somewhat surprised that cj neither discussed nor was asked about his observations regarding long-term consequences because of the actions of a few

Your intentions are honorable but, as your coach, I know you earned and deserved the Trojan Lightweight title.... nobody can take that knowledge away from me, and no amount of improper gifts or vacated rocks glasses will dissuade me from always believing that HBPD is the one and only winner of the Jesuit/Protestant Trojan Lightweight Award in 2010. DRINK ON!
