Maybe the best part of this is the fact that we actually can find fault in the way in which the Ponies won! It wasn't too long ago that we would have given anything for an ugly win.

I'm lukewarm on today. There were some missed opportunities, to be sure, but there also were some plays made.

Kyle Padron isn't back to his top form, but he's getting better.
Aldrick Robinson seems to thrive when more balls are thrown his way.
Ja'Gared Davis and Taylor Thompson are flat-out nasty.
Margus Hunt gets better and better every game.
The rest of the receivers — Beasley, Johnson, Holman, Haynes — looked decent today.
The offensive line generally looked good. Padron still got hit too many times.
Pretty soon, we're going to have to start talking about Pete Fleps with a lot more praise.
Richard Crawford broke up several passes.

There's a lot to clean up, and this is a short week. But I love the fact that we're upset we didn't win by more. Nice indication of where the program is, compared to where it was not too long ago.

Go Ponies! Beat the damned Froggies.

Pete Fleps deserves a lot of praise. Great football player and person.

I was pleased that the team actually grew stronger as the game progressed. There are still areas for improvement, but the second half was played by a different team than the first.

SMU earned its first victory against a BCS team since beating Kansas in 2000.

Padron threw four touchdowns and ran for another.

Humiliating? No. Encouraging? Perhaps.

There was a noticeable difference when Marquis Frazier was getting some sitting on the bench getting some rest from playing NT. He gets some real push. Also, O'Guin looks promising the few plays I saw him.

Still learning how to win...
-
Blown coverages led to 3 big plays for WSU...
Turnover on punt leads to another TD (poor call or not, it counted on the board)...
Padron is still not right, and still dinged up IMHO...
Offense still lacks rhythm, and lacks ability to keep from falling over their own feet...
WSU IS TRULY AWFUL...

+
Zach Line is a beast...
AR played up to the reputation....
Defensive line is becoming a matter that some of our opponents will have to scheme AROUND...

We did what we were supposed to do, WIN.
We are where we expected to be re: record.
Now is the great opportunity of tcu. If we play in the secondary like we did today against WSU, the frogs will school us by 30.

not a perfect Saturday, but a restful night's sleep with a victory in the bag.

Peruna81 is right. If the DB's play like they did today, we will get ripped. IMHO, that is the weakest part of our team. 5'8" DB's are just not going to hold up that well against 6'2" leapers. I don't know who kicked butts in locker room at halftime, but the D-line got the message. Second half they were in a different zone.

Can't wait for Friday! BEAT TCU!!!!!!

How many people thought at the beginning of the season that:

1) We'd hang with TTECH (8pts)
2) be a 15pt favorite v UAB (win by 21)
3) be a 23 pt favorite v WSU (win by 14, 35-21)

Be 2-1

??????????????????????

next year we will have the luxury of being upset that we lost to a team like tech...not there yet, but getting there slowly.

hoping there will be a day where jtstang's admonition will become a thing of the past...a happy, distant memory.
