Ponies in the pros

Post by PonyExpress »

Just saw this on the school website:

Mustangs in the pros
SMU grads continue careers in NFL, NFL Europe, AFL & CFL

DALLAS (SMU) - While the current crop of SMU footballers continues spring practice, several former Mustangs are continuing their playing careers in professional leagues.

Donald Mitchell, a 1999 graduate, is currently a member of the Dallas Cowboys after spending several seasons with the Tennessee Titans. Kevin Garrett ('03) just completed his first season with the St. Louis Rams, where he saw action at cornerback. Coby Rhinehart ('99) continues his career with the Arizona Cardinals, where he just finished his fourth NFL campaign.

The NFL Europe is home to four former Ponies this season. Vic Viloria (’03) is with the Scottish Claymores, Kris Briggs (’03) plays for the Amsterdam Admirals and Albert Johnson (’99) and Rodnick Phillips (’00) both suit up for the Cologne Centurions.

Staying in the Metroplex, Kevin Aldridge (’02) plays as a fullback and linebacker for the Dallas Desperados of the Arena Football league.

Chris Cunningham ('04), who played for SMU just this last fall, will head north of the border to play for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League later this year.

This year’s SMU squad will wrap up spring practice with the annual Red & Blue Game, slated for April 17, at 1p.m.

And DE Markus Pratt and OL Thornton Chandler are playing in ArenaLeague2, or whatever the next level of indoor football's called.
Good luck to all the Ponies!

Didn't Cunningham's brother play in Canada, too?
Good luck up there, Comet!
