Can someone explain to me why the thread title "Humiliating" is anywhere near appropriate?

have you spent much time around gamble-aholics who are bitter when everyone else seems satisfied because of some insignificant play in the 4th quarter

i bet on the games, but i sure don't judge the team's final performance on whether or not they cover. for this team, a W is still a W. if we cover, great. if not, it's still a W. we're still too new to this to be focused on crap like that.

save 'humiliating' when we're actually humiliated in a loss dude. 'ugly' is more like it.

Am I the only one who was still nervous when we were up 28-14 in the 4th?

Color me unimpressed. WSU is the worst team in America outside of Stallions mancrush Todd Dodge. Should have been a 5 TD win.
Back off Warchild seriously.

The lack of fans in the stands was the only real bad thing about the game today.
The athletic department needs to find some way of getting the fraternities and sororities to get all their members out to the games.

let'see here:

-discount tickets the week of the game-negligible impact, too short a notice...
-HEAT/HUMIDITY...
-comparatively little or no early promotion of the game to casual fans...

students in the stands are not the issue per se...

SMU will have to think WAY outside the box to reach past the 20K it currently draws.

Think Russ Potts style promotion.

How about a pretty good film about the program (albeit on our darkest hour) on ESPN? ;)

SMU's gotta' win and win and win and win before people come of their own free will. Our turn out will be small for a while.

There are so many teams in the city of Dallas that, again, SMU has to win and win and win and win before people will finally take up SMU as their team. Too many people in Dallas went to Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech.... and the folks who come in from out of state, well they are too busy looking into all our pro-sport options.

Dallas loves a winner, but SMU is not seen as a "Dallas team".... that's why we have to win and win and win and win.... but the good thing is it won't take as long with June at the helm because he is a known commodity at head coach.

Otherwise I'd say it'd take a decade of consistent winning for us to have a fan base that would fill the stadium every week.

hate to be pessimistic but i'd say thats coming Friday night unless we play
like we did in the Hawaii Bowl. But still coming out of September 2-2 isn't bad.

Not a real satisfying win but a win nevertheless. Some good things about it: Apparently no serious injuries. The offense appeared to be getting it together in the second half. We scored 35 points without getting a single turnover.

They scored one touchdown against our first team defense and again we got no turnovers. Our team and coaches can't come away feeling elated or over confident. We played a lot of players and we got to practise our onside kick defense. The DBs appear to be in position to make a play but are often not making the play. Our front seven is pretty good and Hunt shows real promise.

This Friday will be a real learning experience against the best team we will face and against real speed. If we can look respectable and get no one hurt I will be very pleased.

We will not even be close on Friday if we play like we did the last few weeks.....TCU will expose all that we are weak in. Dalton will pick our corners clean on Friday. Damn its so darn apparent that we need some bigger DB's out there...it looks strange to see our smallish DBs against the big WR/TEs that are thrown against us every week. The apparent coaching trend is to use the height against out smallish DB's and throw up high so their WRs go get it and leave our guys hanging down low.
Yes Crawford had some good breakups, but he still had some problems getting turned around during the passes coming his way.

Everyone wants tall corners who can cover including the NFL. Check the height of of the corners in the NFL. Champ Bailey, one of the best can't be more than 5" 10".
