The backup to the backup QB is now out. This is not UH at their best. I am sure we will see UH at their best with Keenan totally healthy.

I don't think we will see Keenum healthy ever again with an NCAA logo on his jersey. Fact of the matter is he is (was) a pro-prospect who now has a leg (knee?) injury and a head injury. IF he is ever medically cleared to play chances are he will do what Sam Bradford did and opt not to. Keenum was likely never going to be a first round pick and he has shown all he can show at the college level. He's better off testing his luck at the combine/private workouts/ and MAYBE the Sr. Bowl.

In other words, he's done as an NCAA QB. We will never face him again.

HBPD and I are just leaving Pasadena. Our official PF.com live on the scene scouting report: Houston = not the same team they were last year./extremely beatable.

Also, word to the wise -- avoid the dogs at the Rose Bowl. I had two and then they had me... It was less than an hour before they came right back up. And just like Case's Heisman Campaign they went right down a Rose Bowl toilet. HBPD jinxed it before I took a bite -- he made a crass coment about the contents of the dogs and immediately I started to feel ill - it was just a matter of time at that point.

Which is not what you want to hear when you have just commented that you can't remember the last time you had a stadium dog, plus have just finished spreading that lovely mustard and yummy relish like you used to do oh so long ago... and, of course, you are about to take that first giant delicious bite.

So if Keenum is done, this has to make us favorites to win the West (if we beat Tulsa who got their doors blown off by Okie St).

I was thinking the same thing. Our season goes from an 8-4 to a very doable 9-3. If we sneak out a win against ECU or something, could be 10-2.

Hate to say it, but only TCU is the unclimbable mountain left this year.

If SMU win C-USA and beat TCU they'll be ranked.

If SMU beat everyone BESIDES TCU (but play TCU close the way they played Tech) and TT and TCU end up in the top 25, SMU will be ranked.

Because they have (yet) to be blown out, SMU stand the best shot of being ranked by the end of the year. They're also the most nationally recognizable team in the conference now with their head coach and TV show (which is nationally televised).

A win over Navy, at WORST a close one with TCU, plus running the table in C-USA, and SMU will be ranked near the bottom of the top 25... wouldn't that be something?

Yep, if Keenum is done then SMU immediately becomes C-USA West favorites, their 2 biggest competitors for the crown (Houston and Tulsa) both have to come to Ford.

Interesting post on UH Scout by a physician:

My brother-in-law a doctor in Orlando sent this message to me...

From a medical point of view...

I saw them examine his knee on the field. They did what was called a "drawer test". This is to check the stability of the ligaments of the knee, the ACL and PCL. This test was positive for a possible torn knee ligament, most probably the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). The trainer knew that. He shook his head yes with a look of dismay on his face when he did the test. I pointed that out to Jan.

The ligament could just be stretched (sprained). If only sprained, he will sit out 2-3 games and will be back.
If it is torn, he is out for the rest of the season.

I would imagine they will ice him up, get him back to Houston, do an MRI to determine the extent of the injury, and hope that one of your Houston sports doctors can get him back on his feet.
