UAB and TTU get plenty of scores with cheap short field TDs due to our turnover.
We eliminate TOs against TCU like we did against WSU and TCU has a much taller order to fill if they want to beat us.

No Turnovers...HUGE!Forget the punt. That was a freak play. We had no fumbles or interceptions. We didn't give WSU anything cheap. Cant say for sure the refs didnt give them something cheap.

Re: No Turnovers...HUGE!Well said. Ball security is going to be crucial against TCU. It would be nice to create some turnovers though.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.
Potential is nothing, performance is everything.
Re: No Turnovers...HUGE!Turnovers are a function of two things. A tough D that creates fumbles and an experienced secondary that creates interceptions. We have one component this year that hasn't created the fumbles. The secondary will improve over the year as they gain experience. I just hope we create turnovers Friday night. That would be huge for our O.

Re: No Turnovers...HUGE!very good news...especially for padron

Re: No Turnovers...HUGE!Some excellent posts about turnovers. I think one reason our passing attack does not seem as effective so far this year is because Padron is trying to be cautious (after the TT game) about throwing Oskies. Hopefully, as mentioned, our secondary will get more experienced and effective and we will keep turnovers low. I still regard this Friday night as a learning experience that will stand us in good stead later (if we don't lose any key players to injuries) and am not worried about losing.
Re: No Turnovers...HUGE!Sorry but that WAS a turnover that happened. ( ididn't like it nor agreed with the call) But after watching several SMU practices this summer, they didn't have the punt and kick returners actually catch the punts/kicks, as they already had a football in their hands and then ran the ball up the field. I think these punt and kick returners need more practice and under contrived pressure, as the fumble from Acker at the TT game and that one against WSU are related....
We may see more of this unless they focus on punts and kick offs......
Re: No Turnovers...HUGE!
Oh please...when you get hit before the ball gets there it is highly unlikely that you are actually going to be able to catch it...even if it hits you. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: No Turnovers...HUGE!The Acker thing was not a muff. He caught the ball but did not protect it in traffic, which may relate to your comment, somewhat.
