Leach conveys a good, dry sense of humor and he definitely understands the passing game. Otherwise, he has a face for radio. I didn't want to like him either, but he didn't annoy me and that is really the most I can say for any game analyst. Oddly enough, despite the fact that I hated him, another TTU ex coach, Bobby Knight, is the best commentator on any sport. Just goes to show.

I also liked his analyst of the game. I watched most of the game and did not hear about the "Death Penalty". Did anyone hear anything about DP which I might have missed while away from the TV? I would be delighted if we could finally move pass that.

Not that I recall, good point!

The story line was "SMU has not beated a BCS team since Kansas in 2000."

For what it is worth, it is shovel pass, not shuffle pass and long ago the shovel pass was in most team's reportoire.

His monotone was a little offf putting. A big part of the job as the color analyst is to be colorful. He is not. I like what he had to say (I didn't want to, but I did).

I think a better TV Job for him rather than being a game analyst is to do something similar to what Ron Jawarsk does for the NFL. Create filler pieces breaking down plays and what the QB is looking for and where there are opportunties. He could do this for a dozen games every weekend. I think this would be more to his strengths.

Ha.....the thought of ESPN hiring him.......what next--pairing him to broadcast w/CJ? Can't see him at atm----------don't think he would have free reign there for his crazy ways! That being said, it would be interesting if he was their coach, to watch him mess w/the ags! The a&m guy could pull his sword on the Pirate!

Another plus for Leach: He is not Bob Davies.

I thought things were going downhill when Leach made a comment about how he just wasn't cut out for broadcasting, and then immediately proved his point by ignoring a question and leaving dead air for 5 seconds. But he recovered and was more useful and entertaining to me than your average commentator.

He did better than I was expecting but he certainly has some room for improvement.

What i liked more was that we are 1-0 with him in the broadcasting booth...
