Keys to the TCU game

Postby LakeHighlandsPony » Mon Sep 20, 2010 8:51 pm

My keys to the game. (For what thats worth-not much)

1. Limit the 3 and outs. We have to have sustained drives and that can be done by Padron tucking and running if nothing is available. If the Defense is on the field all night it will be ugly.

2. Limit the Chernobyl mistakes. Don't give the game away by dropping punts or fumbling on the goal line. We have done this with TCU in the past. They are too good to spot them 7 or 14 points.

3. Know where Kerley is every second of the game- Even if he is in the bathroom.

4. Play loose and have fun. TCU has everything to lose-They are #4 team in the country and we are the scrappy cross town rival who is not supposed to even stay in the game with them.

I know there are more but these seem to be the biggies for me. What say you?

And then you get the keys to the bathroom, and lose them.

TB Ed Wesley has consistently averaged about 8 yards per carry in each game this year and about 130 yards per game- the other back Mathew Tucker was MWC Freshman of the Year-that's probably a good place to start.

Yep Stallion-

I said in another post Wesley may be the best TCU back since LaDanian. The option to Wesley cooked Baylor. Did Oregon State spread them out and stuff it? I hope they are working on that this week.

Defense: Constant Pressure by the front three - move the LBs around and show them different looks.

Offense: Even if we don't score on each drive, we need to hold the ball for at least 5 minutes per possession. The tighter the game the more the pressure ratchets up on them. They need to beat us big in order to maintain their ranking. Shortening the game will add more pressure leading to good things for us.

Prevent negative plays, especially by getting sacked.
Get the ball downfield.

Pressure Dalton.
Limit big pass plays.
Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!!

1) No turnovers.

2) No stupid mistakes (like a blown coverage against UAB that should have been a TD)

3) Eliminate Penalties.

4) Catch the ball. Too many drops in the first three games. Catch the ball and we decrease 3 and outs by a fair number

5) Put pressure on the QB.

sounds like a good challenge for our front 7 vs their running game.

I would love to see Davis take control of this game. Think Freeney vs the Giants the other night

Defense get a few stops. Offense, don't get stopped and no turnovers, we win. The only way we win this is a shootout. Take what they give you and just keep doing it and when they change to stop that, take whatever else they give you. The keys for us are the O Line, Zack Line, and KP hitting our wideouts in stride.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

The only key needed to win a football is SCORE MORE POINTS than your opponent. Yards, turnover, sacks, and penalties are really not that important if you somehow find a way to SCORE MORE POINTS.

limit turnovers, keep the heat off Padron, need sterling to play and to play well, Richard Crawford has to step up his game and foremost must sustain drives. team will be playing inspired ball. pony up
