So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...been a long time since SMU football was relevant enough to put any degree of concern in a long-time rival's crosshairs...lots of banter back and forth, from bad color of buildings to death penalty to F.A. Dry to lack of fan support...thanks tcu fans for showing Ponyfans what goes on in most FBS chat boards during a season...it has been a long time since there has been this level of 'smack' and sniping...makes you miss the good 'ol SWC days.
This is SO much more interesting than game week five years ago....wait, that one turned out just about alright! Wish I could make the trip up I-45, but constrained and Providentially hindered...will be rooting for a Mustang surprise, and a LOUD wonderful safe game for fans and players. go Ponies. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...Been an interesting week, but can't wait to get this game over with (hopefully SMU competes well and is in the game late into the 4th) and start focusing on C-USA again. It'll also be nice to get rid of the Toad trolls and get all those TCU threads pushed back a few pages.

Yes, this week has been much more lively that's for sure. Check out this thread from 5 years ago for the pinacle of Rivalry tension! viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14419 -CoS
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...I remember when some were still willing to put the game on national TV from the Cotton Bowl. The only shots of the stands were from a great distance so you could not see that no one was there to see the big rivalry game.
Things have changed indeed. ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...pre 'internets', it was always fun to visit with folks that would ding each other and their opponents the week of the game...back when the only thing everyone agreed on in the SWC was A&M was the team you despised most...
just a nice trip down memory lane. Hoping this is a the start of a 'wonderful friendship'.. or not. GO MUSTANGS! stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...Nothing like being an 18 point underdog to your rival. The only thing interesting about this rivalry the last few years is that TCU has 1 more helmetless block than you have wins.

Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...
I think you are using Fort Worth ISD math because that video shows exactly 1 helmetless block, and we have exactly 1 win (2005). Not much to hang our hat on, I know, but at least we know that 1 is actual equal to 1.
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...don't you guys wish we'd schedule an FCS this week to get a win for Tulip Bowl run? This is what College Football used to be like around here especially for those that remember the heyday of the SWC. Weekly games against schools that that really didn't like each other much.

It would be better if they didn't send the B team over to talk smack though, these guys aren't even entertaining, just annoying.
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...braggin' rights Monday at the Petroleum Club. Nobody gives a damn about beating a team that nobody has heard of

Cut him some slack, he's "Army Strong" I'm sure. -CoS
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...
Actually he is so show him some respect. Hit on him for being a Frog fan but not on his service in the army. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...the energy and emotion that campus, the community, and the alumni are showing is outstanding.
I am looking forward to when we can even out the recently lopsided W-L record. "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: So this is what it is like to have rivalry again...So pumped for the Blvd and game tomorrow, when we can all leave the keyboards behind and actually soak all of this in.
A great week so far. Hopefully a fantastic night. ![]()
