Interesting stuff, especially the comments about Padron holding the ball. I was curious about that. He got clobbered a few times, but it looked like the line did very well. I don't know how many times Padron got hit after he threw the ball, but it seemed like a lot. A few of the times when he was slow getting up, he already had gotten rid of the ball. We're all novices when it comes to watching offensive line play, I realize, but it seemed like the Goon Squad did its job. I wonder if Padron and the coaches agree that he is holding on to the ball a little too long.

A few of my friends that watched the TCU game on TV noted the same thing. I think a lot of that was having to deal with TCU's secondary. They're not a bad unit.

Padron has to learn to use his 3rd and 4th options. Often, we had long routes by three receivers. Those take time to develop. TCU played those routes very well. However, Beasley was often wide open in the flat. Padron never once looked his way. Last year we did a lot of dump offs to the back coming out of the backfield. Seems we are doing less of that. That gave Padron a option to make a quick pass if nothing was open down field. The scheme has changed this year and one suspects Padron is still learning. He may be pressing a bit much trying to make big plays instead of taking the short stuff and controlling the ball. The O line is doing well and can’t keep blocks forever. Padron has to make quicker decisions ( and hopefully correct ones).

Padron is holding the ball too long, but it is still early in his career. I just wonder if he was more successful last year because we were using a more limited playbook. I wonder if he is overwhelmed with using most of JJ's playbook. Also, DJ's one handed reception aside, I don't think the receivers are doing KP any favors.

He also has forgotten one of what I considered his strengths last year. Throwing the ball away! If he can't find his receivers fine, just chuck it in the third row.

When UAB, Wazoo and TCU went to a soft zone our offense stalled. We do very well against "man coverage". Without seeing the coaches film - the zoomed out endzone view - I am wondering if our receivers are recognizing the zone coverage and adjusting their routes. If they are making the adjustment is the open guy the 4th option and KP just doesn't see it in time. Is that why JJ says, "KP will see the missed opportunities on the tape." The draw to Line doesn't work as well, because all eyes remain on the SMU backfield.

I haven't been able to travel to Dallas this season, so I have on;y seen the TV coverage point of view (zoomed in on the QB and offensive line).

I thought TCU had their secondary playing really well and they seemed in synch with Padron going through his checks. I don't think we have any one else on the schedule with the ability of TCU and I think that Padron is being coached to commit quicker.
