The "Hawaii Situation" was basically the UH administration breaking promises to Jones about facility upgrades for 8 years, giving him an embarrassingly low recruiting budget to work with ($50,000 a year) and waiting literally until the last minute to offer him a contract extension. We don't have anything remotely resembling that here at SMU.

Think big picture... He's talking about UH giving JJ the bullocks for years in general. This theoretically could signify the beginning of the Administration leveraging its long arm against the changes the AD has seen over the past few years.

Now, I don't think that's the case -- but don't be short-sighted.

He signed his extension, he got his committee review of admission policy, Turner gave at least one of the students the same option he got from other schools, and he's getting his marketing. He's also getting his high-production value weekly football show, a boost in pay, a new HD scoreboard, his new mascots, and presumably an IPF here in the near future. Where exactly is this "ethically questionable" crap coming from? The hell are we supposed to do...make him Pope of SMU? Change the name of the stadium?
