That's unfortunate to hear. I had doubts about Smith after the Tech game, but he's played very well in all the games since then, including a couple of picks I believe.

Regardless, Sorrell definitely had a solid effort. He was all over the field.

Crawford has made vast improvements and we are showing some depth in the secondary. We have missed our starting corner and safety and yet still had solid secondary play. Man, having some depth makes a huge difference in this teams performance.

One grazed the finger tips, one was badly overthrown because of a hard rush on the QB and the other was to a player who did not not know how to adjust to a deep ball. If they should have been caught they would have been caught. If you want to give them credit for those, Padron had his share that were off target that you could say the same thing about. So those that want to do that, we won 42-39.

It is his back. He hurt it when he replaced DJ on punt returns. Was unable to do punt returns afterwards.

Sorrell showed great acceleration and good tackling ability. Good last second pickup to get him and great to see some depth slowly building on this team.

b. Why was a linebacker covering deep.

How is the leg doing?

The corners were beat no doubt. One pass was close (would not have been a TD because the receiver was running out of bounds as he tried for the catch), one pass was too long and on one had the receiver adjusted properly he could have caught it but he ended up about 5 yards from it when it hit. I believe the LB was covering a back out of the backfield. I still believe we lack a little in pass defense from our safeties, although I praise them for their excellent run defense. Safeties covered better this week than past weeks. But all of that said, Thomspon, et al, had a lot of pressure on the QB and he was throwing on the run while scrambling. And also, as has been said by many, including Jones, Padron made some misreads and missed throws that could have easily been TDs or long gains had he seen them, and/or connected. You just cannot play the if game. The one true fact is that they scored 18 points and we scored 21. That is a win.

Leg is recovering but I am still on the disabled list. I am confident I will be activated for the Houston game but Navy is definitely out.

I am not playing the what if game, but the fact is Crawford is definitely the weakest link in our secondary. He is beat more often than anyone else and even when he has coverage they complete more passes on him than anyone else. Remember all those fade routes for touchdowns thrown over him in the early games. I agree he has improved, but he has a long way to go. We can only hope that his work and coaching can help him learn to carry his weight.

Well it is also compounded by the fact that Moore is good enough that they do not want to throw to his side so Crawford gets more looks his way. We do not have a choice. From what I have seen, Crawford is the 2nd best corner on our team at this point and time.
