SMU plays Navy. Mother of God! Panic! It's Over!

Postby George S. Patton » Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:57 am

Tired of trying to surf through all those threads because you're just not panicked enough and you need a place to just need to go into the fetal position for four days?

Are those sleepless nights about the game Saturday in Annapolis just making you pull your hair out? But is that hair pulling therpeutic in some creepy kind of way?

Fear not. By accessing this thread, you can dump all of your panic thoughts about the Navy game here.

We're off to a pretty good start. (Scratch that. It's now Field Turf -- but will it drain as well as we're led to believe? Hmmmm)

So far, We've had the following:

The [fill in school name here] scares me to death. (You can't have panic without this one)

Navy will run all over SMU in the second half. That's a given (Courtesy of Admiral Panic, Counch'em)

Well, it's going to rain on Thursday and that grass field will still be wet by Saturday (But don't worry about the potential wind and sun drying the field between then and gametime).

Do we need to change defenses for this game? (Should we even play defense because we won't stop them anyway?)

We don't need to go all out to beat Navy. We need to just focus on CUSA. (You bet. Cancel the flight and just sign and send the forfeit papers signaling it's just not in our best interests to play.)

Now to add:
* Well, I respect Navy because they fight to protect our freedom, and I don't know if that's such a good thing to beat them.

* Our defense will be gassed in the second half like it always is. (That's making a strong run behind the [school] game scares me talking point)

* Their QB Dobbs is hurt but he'll be 100% for us and we won't stop him. We've never stopped him.

* Their flexbone is so assignment football for us. If we can hold them to 240, that'll be a victory.

* There will be so much pressure on our offense to keep the ball and make sure they don't get it back.

* We don't play well on grass.

* I can't pull against Roger Staubach. He lives in Dallas.

* They are averaging 10 yards per completion. Our corners will have a hard time keeping up.

The floor is yours.

I'm panicking that I won't be by a computer during the game to contribute to the massive game thread for the next 2 weeks.

I agree with George S Patton, Navy scares the Hades out of me.

First, we all know that Army folk like to monkey with mules and stuff while the Navy operates multi-billion dollars machines of immense size, firepower and capability. It is only natural that an Army guy would wet his pants at the thought of Navy.

Besides that, Navy has an awesome ground attack. They are so well disciplined in their execution that ant colonies study the Navy discipline model.

Navy is always in great shape. They have such tiny players with at least a 2 step disadvantage of speed at all positions. To make up for this, they are in superhuman conditioning. Navy Seals flunk the football teams two a day preparations.

They are masters at the turnover game. And given how much we like to throw it to the other team or drop the ball on the ground, it could get ugly.

Speaking of getting ugly, see the Midshipmen, err, woman hottie thread.

We are faced with a real problem, let Navy maintain 15+ play long drives to score or force a punt and fumble it to them for a score.

If Hunt gets injured we will never block another kick in the history of the school.

If there is a 1-2 mph wind, we will not be able to throw the ball.

There's no hope or chance that the CUSA leading team, with the best CUSA passer and runner, best FG/EP block team in the nation and best coach in the country can beat the awesome Middies.

I'm worried because Navy has access, to quote Dubya, to nucular weapons.

Who is going to hire Jones? We're hoping that both the AD and Brewster get canned after the season. It was that dumba$$ Joel Maturi who fired Glen Mason on Dec. 31 after that meltdown to Texas Tech and scrambled to find a head coach three weeks before national signing day.

Because of that action, Maturi should be held accountable for that. Just a terrible AD.

This is an exhibition game for Ohio State

Back to the Panic:

We still don't have Symanski. That Sada guy sucks. We have NO kicking game.

After watching Sada for the Rice and Tulsa games, I was hoping we could just talk the other team into accepting the ball on their 40 and not making us kick.

Got two new ones:

1. Those gale force winds expected to come off the coast of Africa are going to have a huge impact on our passing. KP doesn't have the arm strength to get it there if he's throwing into it.

Heck, why bother go out there?

2. We've lost 19 consecutive non-conference road games. Sure, we can end OVERPLAYED losing streaks at Rice, but THIS IS OUR LAST EVER CHANCE to snap this streak. If not, it will go on and on and on...

Tough racket
