Kyle PadronModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Kyle PadronDisagree that we have a young offense. Beasley is a Jr, Haynes a Senior, Al a senior, we start Juniors across the board on OL. The only young part is KP..who, incidentally, is a soph just like Line. Line has improved every week.
We all hope for improvement, and want to see it every week. Unfortunately, that has not happened. Look at JJ's comments before the season...someone asked him what was the reason he thought we'd be competing for a championship so quickly...his response: "Number 2." That said, we have an offensive guru head coach and WRs with three years in the system. How is it that we have three and outs at crucial times, get stopped on the first possession etc...while our opponent converts 3rd and 12, 3rd and 17 and is 65% overall on third down?
Re: Kyle Padronthe most popular guy on the roster is always the 2nd team QB...at least when things are going bad.
Kyle is our guy for now. He's going to be pushed if he wants to remain the starter for his full 4 years. Watching on TV, I couldn't see whether anyone was open downfield, but he sure seemed to hold onto the ball a long time yesterday. Might need to tuck and run more often to keep the defense honest...but before he starts doing that, we need more depth at QB
Re: Kyle PadronIf you ever watched the Hawaii Sugar Bowl team - They had the ball flying all over the place. Brennan was very quick in all releases and the offense was very fun to watch. Lots of those 5-10 yards passes would be 30-40 yard gains much like Houston did today. Padron holds on to the ball way too long. - from the tapes, the WR's are getting open in a lot of cases. Is he not reading them fast enough? The 1st half he seemed to have plenty of time back there.
This system takes too long for QB's and WR's to comprehend well. He has not played well the last 2 games. The TO's are game killers. Our defense has to have at least 1 TO per game.
Re: Kyle PadronQuick fix. 3 second clock in your head then throw it away.
Re: Kyle Padron
There are a ton of times where all 4 WR are running deep patterns. I would suggest that isn't supposed to happen. There are certainly occasions where the third option is short and wide open, and Kyle doesn't switch to that player. But a lot of times all 4 WR are running routes 20 yards down the field. That is not how the offense is supposed to work, and sometimes that is the reason Kyle is holding the ball for a long time.
Re: Kyle Padron
So the WR's are the ones who are not understanding the offense? Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Kyle PadronThat's harsh, Bo Levi was a trainwreck (33 picks in 19 games), Padron isn't anywhere near that bad but he seems far too indecisive to ever be a top R&S QB.[/quote]
Kyle is on pace for 24 in the same amount of games . That's not harsh it's accurate . ............. Last edited by Mestengo on Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:25 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Kyle PadronI prefer Padron to BLM, but give Bo credit for his decision...has his team ranked #8 in FCS

Re: Kyle PadronPadron is fine. He is a young QB and the supporting cast needs to step-up. Look at "the top QB recruit" in the nation from 2 years agao at UT. Gilbert had 3 picks and a fumble against the worst defensive unit in the big 12. And he has nothing but "Parade All-Americas" blocking for him and the same type guys at receiver and running back. It is the ultimate team game! There is something to be said about team chemistry. Do you play the guys that work hard and go to class and are "team" guys or do you play a more-talented guy who for instance makes some outstanding plays but then loafs many other plays and is a "me" guy instead of a "team" guy? You would think coaches would learn after getting beat by Navy for 3 straight years. Sure, they run an offense that evens the playing field but what about the Navy defense that put the clamps on our offense and the gurus? Isn't it about winning?
Re: Kyle PadronPadron is not fine. This is why I brought it up 3/4 into the season.
Re: Kyle Padron
Don't credit him too much for that ranking, he has thrown picks in 7 straight games. If anything he's holding the team back from being a lot better. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Kyle PadronLet's not compare Padron to Colt Brennan.
Let's compare him to Timmy Chang. Watch this: Many of you are far, far more capable of commenting than I am. Any comments? "I think Couchem is right."

Re: Kyle PadronOne time he had the ball 4 seconds. Three the majorty, and two once in those clips.
Re: Kyle PadronCan you count past two seconds on this set of plays?
Re: Kyle Padron
He is far less Int-prone than Chang, Chang was a gunslinger who made decisions quickly though through 14 starts Padron's numbers are far better than Chang's were at the same point and Chang ran the R&S in HS and started several seasons. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security
