I want the extra practice and I want to watch us play an extra time. But then I will go back to the belief that if losing a bowl game leaves a team with a losing record, it just does not seem right.
That said, I am still holding out hope for 7 wins.
I agree with what you are saying. 7 wins makes it legit and 6 wins is legal but not comfortable, but if here at Ford then its not a big expense for Mustang fans and could actually create and/or renew the fan feelings for SMU Football by playing in a Home Town setting. It could only help the fan base for the future. Its not 4,000 miles away and its not on Christmas Eve and its not a big expense...all winning points.

It's New Years eve. What a great way to send us Stang fans into 2011.

I'm seeing a lot of talk on message boards about the SEC using a power play to knock CUSA out of the Liberty Bowl entirely to play a Big East Team.

Are there stories with anonymous sources floating out there?

it doesn't sound like a power play to knowck cusa out. it sounds like an opponent from the sec may not be able to play the cusa champ, therefore cusa will use the hawaii bowl as the championship bowl. in that case will cusa still send a team to the liberty bowl?

Does the Big East have a tie in with the Fiesta Bowl this year? If so, what disgrace do they plan on sending?

The Big East has 0 teams that are currently bowl eligible. It will most likely be Pitt. Pete Fiutak of college football news says: This might not be as cut and dry as it might appear, considering Pitt is unbeaten and everyone else has two losses. The Panthers play three of their last four games on the road at Connecticut, South Florida, and Cincinnati, with the West Virginia home date mixed in. Everyone is still alive, but it would require winning out and hoping for Pitt to start losing for anyone else to have a shot. Assuming the Panthers don’t lose three of their last four games, Louisville, Rutgers, and Syracuse are all but out of it. The Mountaineers have to go to Pitt, but thanks to a win over South Florida, they have a solid shot of winning the tie-breakers if the Panthers lose one other game. The team with the best chance of winning the Big East other than Pitt is UConn, getting the Panthers at home and playing at South Florida, and with a win over West Virginia already in the bag. However, the Huskies just aren’t good enough to run the table. It’s going to be a messy finish with lots of tie-breakers involved for the bowl games. Predicted Final Pecking Order: 1. Pitt, 2. West Virginia, 3. South Florida, 4. Syracuse, 5. Connecticut, 6. Louisville, 7. Cincinnati, 8. Rutgers

I would cherish BCS representatives explaining in a Court of Law why the Big East Champion deserves an automatic BCS Bid when Boise St and TCU do not. Why Boise may be stuck in the Humanatarian Bowl and the Big East Champion gets to go to a BCS Bowl. Its probably Boise's best trump card in getting that second non-AQ BCS Bowl Bid because it would be extremely strong and damaging evidence of an illegal restraint of trade in a Court of Law if a Sherman Anti-trust Act claim is ever filed.

a 1 loss SEC champion that survived 9 SEC games to come out on top would have every right to complain if they weren't one of the participants in the title game. I acknowledge TCU as a quality football program, but do not see them going 12-1 playing the schedule LSU or Auburn has
