According to Insiders, SMU has made a pitch to bolster the interior of its defensive line by offering a scholarship to Garland (South Garland) DT (and OT) Nicholas Richmond (6-6, 270, 5.1). Richmond reports medium interest in Baylor, Boston College, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M and Tulane - and reports having received offers from every one of them.

Now this sounds like a kid we can really build around. Do we have a legitimate chance at him?

I remember reading (in April, I think) that he had interest in us then. The longer we can stay on his radar, the better our chances, right?

Rivals has a headline that indicates Richmond may have made a decision - but the site doesn't list him as committed anywhere. It says his choices are SMU, Texas Tech and TCU. Anyone have a subscription? What's the latest on him?

The Froggies thought they had a commitment-the recruits dad straightened them out. SMU is one of the main schools in the chase right now.

This is a big man the fits SMU as well and SMU fits him. I hope that his father is looking for a great education and plenty of high paying job opportunities after school.

This would be a huge pickup, and not just in the literal sense.

The kid did give the TCU coaches a verbal commit, but the dad has changed his mind. It will be interesting to see what happens here because it looks like the dad wants more influence in the decision making process. Could turn into a nightmare situation (controlling parent) for whatever schools gets him. Hopefully that will not be the case because he is a great prospect.

Let's worry about the problem-parent issue later. Getting a DT of this size and strength would be fantastic. Get him to SMU, then worry about the details.

Any idea what camps this guy has attended or plans to attend? The coaches have had some good luck with guys they get in camp. Let's hope this is another link in that chain.
