FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "Probable"Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableI'm just trying to figure out when "they're going to get what they deserve".
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableProbably when they play a real team...since their schedule this year is truly very soft....Our schedule is BCS compared to theirs...
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "Probable
Can I hear an Amen
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableAmen.
Their schedule this year is about as impressive as Tulane's schedule in their 12-0 1998 season (beating bowl teams Louisville, S. Miss, and BYU) and not far off from Hawaii's 11-0 season (beating bowl teams Boise, Fresno and Nevada). Tulane finished #7 that year, Hawaii #19. And look where they are now... Those of you who want to put TCU into some sort of National Power category because they beat up on Wyoming, New Mexico, Air Force, etc - feel free to do so. If and when they play a team from the SEC - you will see where things stand - just like we did when we watched the Sugar Bowl and Georgia layed it on the Warriors. "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Yep, just like Boise vs. Oklahoma and Utah vs. Alabama. ![]() Go Frogs! Pony Up!
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableSome of you people must have a serious allergic reaction to actual reality. I wonder if you'd be preaching the same tune if you replaced TCU with SMU and MWC with CUSA. Would we all be sitting around saying gee, we really aren't that great, I mean we do play in CUSA and it sucks as a conference. Once we have to play a real team, we'll get destroyed because we whipped a schedule full of Tulanes, Rices, UTEPS, UABS, and Memphis.
Also, why include Hawai'i and Tulane and say "look where they are now". You couldn't pick two other schools with more glaring deficiencies and obstacles to building a sustainable, successful program. Hawai'i has a whole array of obstacles, such as distance, funding, and facilities they have to overcome that have been well documented on this board. Plus, Hawai'i also had SMU's MVP from the 2008 season running its athletic department, Herman Frazier, who basically let the architecht of that program walk away. Tulane is essentially committed on paper to not fielding a competetive revenue sports program and the school is run by the Diet Coke of Pye. Why would anyone thing they could ever build a successful program? Exactly what evidence is there to make you think one day we'll say about TCU "look where they are now." And why even say it in the first place? TCU is exactly what we want to be, whether people want to admit it or not. Sure, sucks to say it, but pick one thing about their football program and say, nah, don't want that for us. And don't be a smart [deleted] and pick that stupid train sounding noise when they score a touchdown. We may be able to do it better one day, but all this crap about TCU is really a double-edged sword because all you have to do is replace two letters and now you're basically undercutting our own hopes for being a "national power" one day. If that makes me some sort of TCU apologist, Frog Lover, or backstabber, then fine.
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableFor some people reality is tough to handle. TCU should be our template. I have no particular allegiance to them but I root for them when they are not playing SMU because they show how an "outsider" can compete against the money hogging BCS schools. If SMU boosters are so envious that they cannot deal with the facts, then perhaps they are part of the reason we are where we are today which is,"sucking hind [deleted]"!
To me, the attitude that TCU is a classless outfit, including the coach and that their academics are the reason they excel in sports compared to the exalted position of SMU smacks of the same attitude which put us where we are today. It was beneath SMU to fight the NCAA charges in 1986 so we went in with our hands up, revealed all and threw ourselves on the mercy of the NCAA. In addition we hired an elitist president and let the eggheads take over because we were going to be pure and wear the white hat. We were going to be above the fray and the devil with the consequences. Well, here we are except we aren't better than our competitors and above the fray. We are mostly ignored and below the fray. We can't even compete with a service academy which obviously has tougher academic requirement than SMU. Stupid!
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableI think TCU may have some splaining to do after last nights SMU-TCU hoops game. The place was empty. Here they were playing their cross town historic rival and no one was there. Mid terms? The BE is used to sellouts for hoops. So, this will work against the Frogs getting an all-sports nod from the BE.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableIt seems to me that some people still view SMU through the eyes of the SWC. That we are a 'name' school who is just having down years and in a conference with lower schools, for now.
I got news - as far as anyone outside SMU is concerned, we are La Tech. We are Eastern Michigan. We are SunBelt. TCU was this too, unitl they got their act together. Now, people outside of TCU see them as a major team. We would be htting the lottery if we were to get an invite to ANY BCS conference, even the Big East. TCU knows that it raises their profile. They know what they were when they weren't winning every game. It's 2010. We have work to do, and should copy TCU shamelessly. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableMy point - TCU=Boisie, Tulane, Hawaii. SMU could be the same.
For all who proclaim that we should copy TCU's model - I have news - we are not doing that. If anything we are copying Hawaii's model and that started by hiring their coach. The model involves using an unconventional offensive scheme to compete with more talented programs and schools. In all honesty - I would not want SMU be be in the Big East. I know there are some on this board that would think that is blasphemy. I could care less if TCU goes to the BE. I just hope that they continue to keep us on their schedule so that we can "give them what they deserve" which will be our team unleashing some whippings onto the froggies on the field in the same way that they have done to us in some past years. I do think we are on the right track - and you all will see when we are running up the score on the poor frogs at Ford in two years. If they are in the BE then - great - will be nice to whip up on a BE team - will improve our SOS. We are who we are - just show up to the game on Saturday and support the team. Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableWe are copying Hawai'i tactical strategy to win football games by using Jones and his Run N Shoot, not their model. For Hawai'i's, model, see the list of Herman Frazier's decisions while employed as Athletic Director there. I so, so hope we aren't copying Hawai'i.
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "ProbableBaloney! We are not copying anyone's example, much less Hawaii. Orsini would have hired Paul Johnson, not JJ, if he could have gotten him. Does that mean that we were copying Navy? The Flex Bone could not be further from the R&S in style. Usually ADs hire a coach who they think can win. That is all that matters and that is what puts people in the seats.
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "Probable
Reminiscent of the football attendance at Ford Stadium. ![]()
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "Probable
and yet they destroyed us
Re: FWST Calls TCU Move to Big East "Imminent" and "Probable
You mean the 35k plus we had for TCU/SMU this year? Yeah the stadium was a ghost town that night.
