Re: SMU/TCUBoth schools are too small to lose their student sections. Hell, we were cringing on fall break how many students would arrive and it FAILED. Smallest crowd of the year.
Both student bodies have too much money to hang around for long weekends. They would rather road trip and stream the game on their i-PAD from a bar on sixth street or some other port-a-call. We are what we are. The big schools (and li'l Baylor) make fun of us but they can sukit. Hope to see alot of you guys in the Fort next year. We can try to prove our tailgaters are more apathetic than yours when it comes to actually entering the gates. LOL!
Re: SMU/TCUCan I have your seat? Its going to be a little cramped. TCU won't do it but I'd offer to move the game to Arlington for one year and then let them have the 2012 game in Ft Worth if they wanted. TCU could probably get some extra revenue from the game-because I think you get maybe 10,000-15,000 more fans to the game than in a reduced capacity Amon Carter

Re: SMU/TCUI think we will have our best showing ever out in Ft Worth next year...can't wait for it. It would be great to play the game in Jerryworld for the extra room, but I just don't see that happening.
Re: SMU/TCU
Great! Anything over 400 - 500 would be consider an vast improvement.
Re: SMU/TCUconsidering they will only have about 32k seats available it makes it much easier!
lol. "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: SMU/TCUTCU surpassed 20,000 Season Tickets this year and obviously because so few tickets are going to be availiable next year there will be some supply/demand pressure that will likely cause that number to jump.

Re: SMU/TCU
20K season tixs is great for them.
Re: SMU/TCUI would love to have it this past weekend every year. Mentioned that to my wife just this afternoon. Considering that only about 1500 students come to every game, our overall attendance is not based on the students. In my opinion, if the only drawback was to have less students at the game, we should do it in a heartbeat.
Re: SMU/TCUI thought they stopped having this game the final weekend because no one showed up - from either school.
It seems silly to have this on a weekend when both alumni bases will be preoccupied. ![]()
Re: SMU/TCUIf the game had some significance and was played on the Saturday after Turkey Day...Black Friday will be out of the way and it would be possible to draw a good crowd. The kids can go home for Thursday's festivities and then come back Saturday morning to enjoy the Saturday afternoon game.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: SMU/TCUI think that it's a great idea in theory, but to be honest, I think that it would be tough to get people to show up even the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Living in Dallas, I went to the campus on game days, and I rarely even saw anybody I knew on the boulevard. Maybe more people go to the games now, but I know that if the boulevard doesn't have a lot of people, then the game doesn't either. I really hope that changes.
Re: SMU/TCU
Oh yes please God. TCU-SMU is the best rivalry game in Texas outside of ut-a&m. It deserves Thanksgiving day status.
Re: SMU/TCU
Maybe, in theory, if you bothered to show up to a game now you'd know what the boulevard was like. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: SMU/TCU
No need to be rude. Not everybody has extra money to spend, even if it's a small amount. Unemployment's a [deleted]. I still catch the games on TV or listen to them on the radio, though. I miss my free student ticket and wish I could still take advantage of it. Believe me, I'll be at the actual games when I can afford to do so. Until then, I have to wear my red and blue at home, and that doesn't make me any less of a fan. I was simply stating that it used to be that way, even just a couple of years ago. You're right; I have no idea how crowded the Thanksgiving week games have been in the last few years. I hope it has changed for the better, because it would be a great game to have during that week if people showed up.
