Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMUI would like TCU to play Wisco in rose bowl and get pounded just like Northwestern did this weekend...
I think that Northwestern and TCU are not that different and would fare very close in big 10 play...I have seen both teams in person unlike most on this board...
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
I am sure SMU will get much more exposure while TCU is playing West Virginia, Pitt, South Florida, etc in Fort Worth while we are playing whoever. That statement by Undercover Frog is almost insulting. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
Your ok with throwing away the oldest and greatest rivalry we have... TCU is the only game we have truly (2009 SFA Sellout was a marketing tool that turned into a complete joke) sold out in a very, very long time... And it was not a reverse TCU sellout like are so called friends from espnDallas insisted... It will be extremely necessary to receive an invitation to an AQ conference in the next decade to stay relevant for decades to come!!!
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMUthe big east is a terrible football conference as of recently but at least it is an AQ. they are just playing the game.
with the addition of boise and hawaii, i think the mwc would have been a better conference than the big (L)east if tcu had stayed but i obviously don't blame them for working the system. i agree that it hopefully paves the way for us to join a bigger conference soon. PS. Did anyone notice that UConn is going to win that conference? good lord... Last edited by SMU2007 on Mon Nov 29, 2010 4:02 pm, edited 2 times in total.

I am not going to beg TCU to play us. We will be fine either way. We just have to win that's what's important to stay relevant. To heck with TCU. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
Big Hoss hits the nail on the head!! The implosion of the BCS as we know today will change landscape all over the country in the next 3-4 years. If their program suffers any downturn especially after this year and they just turn out to be an average program, I don't know that I would want to be that far East to not have a chair when the music stops playing.

They are going to need those extra AQ Conference $$$ to pay the additional travel expenses they are going to incur as their average Travel Mileage is now a whopping 1140 miles! quote] Not true!! The cumulative average distance total for all schools between the MWC and the Big East is 130 miles more to the Big East. That is nothing in a jet as it is maybe 20 additional minutes. Plus, the travel going east is always easier than going west as there are more flights and airports for options--which, if you ask any travel professional, means it is cheaper to fly east than west.
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
2:45 minute flights instead of 2:25 flights...negligible difference in travel.
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMUIn case anyone is interested...
TCU to: Cincy- 970 miles UConn- 1722 miles Louisville- 870 miles Pitt - 1255 miles Rutgers - 1560 USF - 1135 miles Syracuse - 1550 miles West Virginia - 1240 miles avg: 1288 miles MWC: Air Force- 705 miles BYU- 1180 miles New Mexico - 626 miles San Diego - 1330 miles UNLV - 1200 miles Utah - 1220 miles Wyoming - 920 miles avg: 1025 miles About a 500 mile roundtrip difference. (Granted it's somewhat inaccurate since these are by car and not by plane - which makes at least USF closer - but I think it's still interesting to look at).
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
probably cheaper air fare to those more populated cities
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
TCu OC schedule will now be changed to SMU, NTSU, and Austin college to cut travel cost. ![]() Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
Without TCU on our schedule we have no real rivalry game. Yeah I guess we have been building rivalries with Tulsa and Houston, but the fans want TCU to be on our schedule. The excitement on the boulevard and in the stadium for the TCU game was on a completely different level that I think is necessary.
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMUit didn't hurt there was a #4 team coming into the stadium.
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
Thanks so much for doing this...so really UConn is the biggest difference maker by mileage?.....good info and going to more populated cities has more flights and is more competition, so better pricing. Not as big a deal as once thought. NickSMU17 I know you may have seen both TCU and Northwestern play in person, but in all due respect TCU has a much better defense and would those two schools playing each other would be a mismatch with TCU killing them with their 4-2-5 scheme, which most don't even schedule or coach for and you don't have to go in person to see the difference between these two teams. TCU is a legit defensive powerhouse and the QB has matured into a tough one to beat. I don't like TCU just as most on here, but give credit where credit is due.
Re: Believe it or not, TCU's move is good for SMU
Y'all better hope to GOD the Big East doesn't crumble, cuz guess what?...there wont be enough AQ conf. slots to pick up all the pieces. "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
