Re: Official SMU-Grambling State Game Threadgood half. Nyakundi responding to the Tech nightmare. Another nice half for Frog & Dia
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: Official SMU-Grambling State Game Threadlooks like we had a lot of interest in this game today; hey...it's another W
Re: Official SMU-Grambling State Game Thread
I sat through it. Very quiet in Moody. Probably as many Grambling fans there as SMU fans. I believe DOH played everybody today.
Re: Official SMU-Grambling State Game ThreadThere are about as many people in this thread as there were in the stands. The womens game with Kansas drew twice as many actual butts in seats. Not exaggerating.
Re: Official SMU-Grambling State Game Thread- Nyakundi was sensational. He hit shots, including a bunch of 3s, he hit the boards, he had 6 assists and just 1 turnover, and 4 steals. Best game I have ever seen him play.
- Dia was very good in the second half, but in the first half his contribution was limited mostly to passing (he and Nyakundi had a good high-low passing game going), as he didn't score much and I only noticed one first-half rebound. He seemed timid around the hoop and was visibly frustrated when he was called for traveling three times in less than 10 minutes (once was BS, as he was pushed to the floor and they called him for a walk). - Haynes and Harp defended really well. - Samarippas is not very athletic or quick, but he shoots the outside jumper better than I thought he would. – Match-up zone defense isn't great yet, but it's better than it was in the first couple home games of the year. - Last year, I thought Clinkscales was nothing but a H-O-R-S-E player who could hit outside shots if he came off screens and had time to plant his feet and get set. He has looked better this year at creating his own shot and shooting off the dribble. It will be interesting to see what he can become before the end of the season. Re: Official SMU-Grambling State Game Thread
Really? I heard there were only 30 at the women's game. They counted!
Re: Official SMU-Grambling State Game Thread
Agree that Robert had his best game. We all know he can shoot, but he really worked the post well. That is a part of his game I've been waiting for him to develop. Grambling had two big guys that he and Dia worked all day. I disagree that Samarippas is unathletic and slow. He showed his quicks on defense and hustle. He's still thinking through the offensive sets. That's where he slows down. That's expected of a freshman PG.
