Just another learning experience...

Postby ponyinNC » Sat Dec 04, 2010 3:17 pm

Thank you Ponies for a great season, and this is just another learning experience that will help down the road.

I am not a doom and gloomer...yes, i wanted to win today, but we are a YOUNG team, and you have to take baby steps. Bowl game, C-USA championship game...we are trending up as a program, and although Padron did not play well, he is ONLY a soph. Zach is a SOPH. Our O-line is together next year. If we were a publicly traded stock, we'd be a good long term investment.

We are all upset, b/c this was a winnable game if some things went our way. Missed FG. Missed opportunities on O (Padron missing AR on TD twice). But we are thin (the injuries to Moore and Yenga showed), and we are young.

We will get better.

Pony up!!

Thanks fellas for as great season and let's beat Army.

I guess the UCF freshman QB got a real good learning experience.

I'll probably stew until the bowl. Gotta see a bowl win to declare this season a success. We were close to so much more.

Kind of easier playing in your home stadium with a stout defense...

we were 9.5 point dogs, and we lost by 10. We could have won this game, we had the chances...but we are not there yet. Kyle hopefully learns from this game for his next 2 years.

But I do not understand why we didn't kick the FG with KP playing so bad. Hope someone asks JJ

If Case Keenum gets a hardship year approved we may not see the Championship game for a while.

Szymanski has been dealing with a lower leg injury this year, and he had missed a 47 yarder earlier. If he misses at 52 yards, we're all on here yelling at June for not going for it.

Definitely not in 2011, and in 2012 we'll have to replace the whole o-line. The timing really sucks for us to make a run anytime soon.

Case might have a hard time playing after what Piland has shown this year!

Ha ha ha ha, Case's job will be waiting for him if he gets that waiver. It has never been more clear that he is the engine that runs that Houston program.

Guys next yeat we will be better. 18 returning starters, we have younge guys that saw time and will push to start (on the O-line just being one area). We have the best recruiting class coming in sense the 1980's. Seriously Pony UP!!

the ball isn't booming off Symanski's leg due to the injury. He hasn't been kicking off for a reason. I too at the game wondered why he didn't kick the FG but then noticed it would have been from 51. I think it was probably the right call

Kyle has taken a ton of heat for this game, but he was playing injured, and had no ability to run.
That said, I think that although he is young and inexpeienced, he should by now, be better at getting rid of the ball, and throwing it away when necessary. I think this falls on the coaching staff.

The mustangs were overmatched today, but stayed in the game to the end under some tough circumstances like being on the road, with some injuries etc. I also think they were outcoached, especially in terms of the in game coaching. Kyle was asked to do too much, and was not prepared to do it. Poor clock management. Not a great use of the offensive talent that was available.

Hopeflully it was a good learning experience. Overall the team performed well, with what it had this year. They should continue to improve as the recruiting improves. I think they will contend, if not win the title next year.

as Pony_Fan mentioned, we'll hear JJ talk about how there were "guys running down the field wide-a$$ open"

Champions make plays. Justin Smart made a couple of plays on run blitzes. Marquis made a play taking down their qb, somehow avoiding a horsecollar tackle, as well as coming up with a big sack.

2 or 3 offensive plays needed to be made. And they werent.

Wish we'd have handed the ball off to line after converting that 4th & 7
