SMU-Kansas observations

Postby SMUguy » Sun Dec 05, 2010 2:00 am

- Delisha Wills played her best game of the year. 22 points, 8-8 from the FT line and 6 rebounds. Kansas front line was much bigger, but they couldn't handle her at all.

- Haley Day might be the toughest athlete on campus. She got dropped with an elbow to the eye, and was out for maybe ... 30 seconds. Finished with 15 points and a team-high 8 boards, and played some stout defense.

- Christine Elliott's shot wasn't falling, but she was strong on the glass and had four blocked shots. She also made a really sweet play, racing back down to the defensive end of the floor, stealing a pass on her way out of bounds and passing it in to a teammate before hitting the ground. Impressive.

- Guards struggled with their shots, but passed the ball well. The three front court players were terrific, and the guards got the ball to them.

- Akil Simpson showed some nice energy off the bench. I liked her hustle on the boards. She didn't get many, because she wasn't in long, but when she was in, she was active.

Kansas was a good team. Undefeated. Watching them warm up, I thought we were going to get killed, but overall, we played really well.

Beat NTSU (Tuesday at Moody).
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
...
"Hit it."
