USC Fans Exude Class

About 40 fans of both schools fought at about 4:20 p.m. in a grassy part of Brookside Golf Course that the stadium uses for event parking, Pasadena police Commander Darryl Qualls said.

One person was stabbed in the cheek and the other was stabbed in the back during the melee some three hours before the crosstown-rivalry game between the Bruins and Trojans was set to start

That's unfair, as UCLA fans were involved as well.

Hey I have been to one, yes just one- count em, game at the Coliseum(two years ago at USC-Ohio State) and you can say they are fans, but there are thousands of USC 'fans' around the stadium and can assure you that they have never sat in a USC classroom. The area around the campus is a tough place to live....it has changed during the past years and is not so much projects as is now more barrio, but USC has many LA followers that never finished HS, much less go to college.
We can only hope that we at least get fans from around DFW like USC has. Not for the fights, but just fans that follow the schools( SMU) progress and jump on the bandwagon.

I was at "The Rivalry" game last night and you can't indite entire Universities for the actions of a few drunks who probably never have set foot on either University's campus.

My seats were surrounded by UCLA fans and they were courteous and knowledgeable, without uninformed animus.

They were quite intrigued and looking forward to watching Pony Exce$$ after I told them about the film.

They are very frustrated as Rick Neuheisel decided to jump with both feet into using "The Pistol" and they hate Norm Chow as well!

UCLA just plain fact does not have a PAC-10 QB in a soon to be PAC-12 world!

A full-on Pistol will not work, because you have to throw the ball in the PAC-10!

The UCLA Fans were so down when Bradford scored his 73 yard TD that with 10 minutes remaining in the 4th Quarter the Rose Bowl was a predominately USC stadium with the Trojans leading 28-7!

The Bruins scored a face-saving TD near the end as the USC Band mocked them, and played their fight song with the chorus of "U-C-L-A SUCKS"!

How embarrassing to have your home field taken over by your arch-rival and you have so few fans that you can't even drown them out!

UCLA fans said they would like to hire Mike Leach, but know that they can't afford him, and their AD won't cut Rick loose.

I reminded the Bruins around me that this is just the beginning of USC's decline as the loss of scholarships take their toll and that they have all of theirs.

I never thought I would ever describe a Victory over UCLA as "Bitter-Sweet" but that is what I felt as I left "our" Rose Bowl! :?

So Ponies, SMU is going bowling while USC's and UCLA's seasons are over!

Be Happy that SMU is moving upward!

And as Bobby Dylan said..

and watch your Parking Meters!

A lot of the fans from the barrio really think SC stands for South Central (I am not kidding). I don't even know if they know it is College Football!

I was at this game last night too. When you open the Rose Bowl parking area at 6am for a 7:30pm and people are tailgating all day long, something like this is bound to happen. I've been to the USC-UCLA game at the Coliseum as well, and I was actually treated quite well there wearing my UCLA jersey in a sea of USC. Hate to admit it, but the game day atmosphere at the Coliseum is way better than at the Rose Bowl, although you can't beat watching the sunset at the Rose Bowl. Haven't been to an SMU home game in years so I can't say how it compares to SMU game day.
