Thanks to Coach Jones, his coaches and all the players for having a fine season and proving that SMU football is on the rise. A job well done. Now is the time to hit the books, pass finals and get ready for Army. To all the potential recruits that read this board, do not be dismayed by those who have short memories and/or lack any knowledge of the game.

Well said - Ponynut!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Criticism is a good sign. Our fans are learning to have high expectations.

We can both appreciate this year and also expect to see improvement in all aspects - the play on the field, coaching (especially clock managment), game day presentation and also in ourselves as fans.

For those recruits reading this site - first - go study, and second - you better hurry since we are almost full, and lastly - know that if you are coming to SMU you will not be the only one who expects to see you play at the very top level of college football.

Agreed that criticism is a good sign, but I think some of the gripes have been unfounded.

This was a better season than last because we played for a conference title. Next year we should win it. Next year we should expect 8 or 9 wins in the regular season and votes in the polls.

We should also come to expect at least 25k fans at Ford, regardless of who we play. We should expect our fans to be loud and into the game at all times.

On the flight home from Orlando, a couple of our band kids were talking about the season and how much fun it has been. They mentioned that just 2 seasons ago SMU finished 1-11, again. Now, SMU is playing for the conference championship. How neat that our students have that perspective. I wish we could get more of them inside Ford, but we're working on it. Of course, the same can be said for all those who Blvd but fail to go inside and support the team. I wish SMU would close the Blvd down once the game begins. Either go in Ford, or leave the Blvd. Congrats to JJ and the Mustangs, 2 years in a row playing in a bowl and this year playing for a conference championship. Be proud, not critical. Think Mack Brown wished he was playing for a conference title?

2 bowl games in two years can not be understated, thats awesome progress for this program. The fact we made it to the CUSA title game is a bonus.

Even better my Mustangs are playing Army in the AFB! Only if I could get to the game somehow...

Cheers,

Some very good posts here. I reiterate that last year was a bit of an abberation with all the blocked kicks, the emergence of Padron after Mitchell went down and the contribution of McNeal. Arguably the 2009 team had more talent than the 2010 team. After all, two NFL players and possibly a third are no longer with us. The 2009 team had more seniors and some very good senior leadership from Sanders and Kennemer. In other words, I believe the 2009ers way overachieved.

This 2010 team, while suffering injuries to some very key players, has done a good job. Congratulations to all hands, players and coaches.

Go Mustangs.

Every year we take a step forward and we'll be fine. Padron played with guts and courage. Robinson showed he's read for Sundays. Banjo showed that he might be someone that the NFL might want to talk to. Hunt is making strides each week. From a guy who never put on a helmet to a decent Div. 1 DE in two years, wow! The O Line is getting better. Lots of potential out there with Fields and Line in the future. We'll be a team to be reckoned with for CUSA. The next step is for KP to develop into the QB that JJ expects him to be. If he does, then we'll be lighting up scoreboards next year.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
