I heard June was waiting to sign his contract because he was waiting to make sure Orsini was taken care of. I know June has since signed, so I thought that meant they had reached an agreement with the big O. Hope it gets settled soon.

Not sure Orsinis was part of the Jones equasion. I do know that JJ's delay did involve taking care of his staff.

I think his point is we could've gotten JJ for less.

At best, that's a HUGE maybe. Even if JJ was convinced to come to SMU for say $1.5M instead of $2M, would that make the situation significantly different?

If the point is SMU should have paid in the $500K - $800K range for a football coach; 1) There's no way they could have gotten JJ and 2) You would have probably end up with a FCS coach (the route Rice took). If you think that's the approach SMU should have taken, then please explain in detail.

Just remember that SMU student applications were up 35% last year because of JJ. Filling those seats with a larger group to select from translates into higher academic standards and national college rankings. There is mucho cause and affect here.
