Why Craig James hates SMU

And by others do you mean himself and everyone else who played for us from 78-86? Whoever was responsible for shamefully denouncing and shunning our players for 20+ years outta be publicly tarred and feathered.

I wouldn't really blame players from that era for not just gushing with love. I'm surpised at Dickerson, Rupard, and Armstrong, all in a good way. Great to see them stick through it thick and thin.

And for the record, Craig James does not hate SMU and 99% of SMU fans like Craig james, so we can skip that waste of time.

Wrong again WC Pony. A lot of this chat started when his son did elect to go to SMU. Everyone jumjped on Craig about that, but his son wanted to also play baseball which was not offered at SMU. Check with the coaches and they will tell you Craig is in touch.

Its so weird, i mean i wasnt alive when all this was going on but my mom told me all about it before i even came to smu (when i was getting recruited). I fell in love with story and it was part of the reason i came. I dont like hearing him bash our school on tv though...it really pisses me off.

I've heard him say nice things about SMU. He spoke well of the facilities and the potential to return to winning.
The first time I saw him play was when we went to the '78 State Championship to watch the Plano Wildcats and he ran all over Plano, who back then was a major state power. He kicked the ball too. Then in '87 I watched Plano beat his Stratford for the State title.
Anyway, I'm glad he came to SMU because I became a fan because he was so good.

For someone who supposedly hates SMU, he sure said a lot of nice, heartfelt things about SMU when he was being honored along with Dickerson at the Doak Walker banquet last winter.

If he has said anything negative about SMU, it's just because he's had the same frustrations we've all had for the last 25 years. When we say it on Ponyfans, no big deal. When he says something other than "Go Ponies!" it gets magnified, at least in our minds.
