Yes, and you cannot serisously think multiple instances of "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" constitutes a positive spin on that record.
And BTW, I do not think the team coming back ever really "mailed it in" as you say last year. I think the record was a reflection of an overwhelming disparity in talent as compared to opponents. We were young, for sure, but youth equates to disparity in talent as compared to D-1 football opponents, unfortunately.

At least your brand of humor is intellectually consistent.

Maybe it was smug - but I was screaming the same thing. I will never know why we didn't line up two guys on him alone and make them beat us some other way. At least force an adjustment - not that the outcome would have been different - it just seems like coaching pride would have called for a change eventually. Maybe our defensive coach made a deal with Woods for a 10% cut of his signing bonus - that one game probably put him in the first round.

Oh, I assure you, intellect has nothing to do with it.
Peace, JT, peace. Look (as I believe Water Pony was saying,) it's not the facts themselves, its the constant, kneejerk repetition of them that grates on a fan. Sunshine's a fair criticism of me. I'll still contend, though, that this team needs sunshiners far more than it needs the gloom and doomers.

Woods ran wild on us last year because we had nobody to match up physically with him. A double team might have helped, but it appeared to me (watching on TV) that Jonas got frustrated and didn't use good technique. On a couple of those scores, Jonas was in position to attack Woods arms and prevent the catch, but instead made a play for the ball and came up short. We can only hope our secondary is much improved and will break up more big plays and come up with a few more INTs than they have in recent years. Of course, it didn't help that we were so outmatched at the line of scrimage and OSU had all day to wait until Woods broke free to get him the ball. We know Adami will be a horse on the DL, but we need the other guys to step it up and put more pressure on opposing QBs if we hope to show any significant improvement this season.

IF my memory serves me correctly we couldn't stop their running back either (Tatum Bell? or something like that), so I don't really know that anything we could have done that game that would have helped. It would have been nice to not have someone set a record against us, and if I had been Jonas there would have been quite a few Defensive PI calls, and probably several unsportsmanlike conduct calls, then maybe some of those touchdowns would have been rushing TDs instead of passing, but whatever.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?
