Footballscoop.com, which sometimes is pretty credible, sometimes is a couple notches above bleacher report, says this:

Monday December 27, 2010

Maryland: Two sources tell FootballScoop that Maryland is close to landing a big-time head coach that still coaching this season. We are working to get more confirmation.

Yeah, Maryland wouldn't make a ton of sense considering the shape the program is in (much better than his normal reclamation projects, which he has stated he prefers) and the manner in which they treated the last coach (who turned the program around after 14 years of mediocrity only to be shown the door after an 8 win season and conference coach of the year honors).
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Well, that fits the Comcast report of either JJ or Malzhan.

Will Jones align himself with a rich benefactor's Terrapin Rescue organization and adopt two turtles as new mascots? And will they be run across the field in pregame (I mean during the 4 hours pregame)?

I do believe there is validity to institutional support and it being iffy. But again my position about coaches has been one of total apathy. Coaching is a transient industry. These guys always have their hand out. I've grown tired of the yearly BS that goes on and the $$$/power connected to it.

If he stays he stays. If he leaves he leaves. And then we move on. He's made the job more attractive so that's a good thing. Who knows? Maybe Turner warms up to the replacement and better times are ahead.

Oops...just saw coach, not head coach, as I was scanning that. You are correct.
Hmmm...interesting.

In unrelated news, does this mean the end of all the blackout threads as we all turn our attention to this?

Personally I'm tired of all of the drama that June has brought with him.

If JJ leaves, what about Klemm to head coach...he recruted all these guys, might be the only way to keep a recruiting class...

You actually believe that after running off June Jones, Turner would suddenly support football for the first time in his time as a college president? That makes absolutely no sense. This is further proof that you have no idea what you are talking about.

Turner is a cancer. He has made SMU an embarrassment by allowing its football to become as poor as it became. He went back on his word regarding recruiting. He has obviously been a hindrance to all that June Jones has done. And after all that, people are still more frustrated at June Jones for the addition of two horses! Astounding!
