JJ has certainly succeeded at getting SMU back to the post-season, but after three years he also has the same number of losses as Bennett did in his final three years at SMU - 23. JJ obviously brings the added bonus of celebrity, improved recruiting and national pub, but as far as a huge improvement in gameday coaching? Don't see it yet. The worm can is open ... dig in... JJ - regular season only: ' 08 1-11 '09 7-5 '10 7-5 total: 15-21JJ - including post-season: ' 08 1-11 '09 8-5 '10 7-7 total: 16-23PB - regular season '05 5-6 '06 6-6 '07 1-11 total: 12-23

Sorry, but that is a silly post. That's really a streach to make that comparison. JJ's 1-11 season was basically with the same players that gave PB his 1-11 season. PB went downward JJ is going upward.
The one thing I really liked about PB is that he truly loved SMU and our school colors. Unfortunately the head coach position was not his forte.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I'm certainly glad we have JJ over PB, no bones about it.
BUT..I don't know if that season where we p!ssed away 1st and goal vs Rice wouldve resulted in a bowl bid had there been as many bowls then as there are now

If we had made that one yard, I do not know who would be our coach today, but it would not be Jones. Bennett would have been extended.

Gotta count the CUSA Championship also. We had 2 post season games this year, and one last year.

SMU has been as bad as say buffalo or Temple in the recent past. However when Turner Gill and Golden come to those schools and win them 8 games they get hired by BCS teams. JJ does it and he isn't doing good enough. Now JJ is finally recruiting the players he wants. Results will come.
