I can't complain. Loved the Vard before the game. Loved the game and loved the post game environment. Concessions were up to the ARB so can't blame SMU though I know it is our duty to blame SMU for anything we don't like. The fly over was great but SMU denied the use of afterburners so that was screwed up as well.. Wish there had been a parachute drop but I guess SMU caused that SNAFU as well.

I really wished they had had a human sacrifice to round out the halftime show but once again SMU screwed that up as well.

Realize it's been a very long time since I've posted on here. But I felt like there were a lot of logistical issues at the AFB that I was very disappointed with:

1. LOTS of confusion at ticket will call. There were multiple will call windows, but the main window that SMU fans are used to going to (northwest corner of stadium) wasn't the one most of us needed to go to for our AFB tickets.
There wasn't a sign to say which will call that window was for, so many people waited in line only to be told they had to walk around to gate 1 for the ticket window at the southwest corner of the stadium (which honestly, I didn't even know existed) But at the gate 1 window, there was a sign that said SMU Will Call.
I get a lot of that is in the hands of bowl organizers, but you'd think SMU officials could have stepped in and said, "hey our fans are used to going to this ticket window, so why not let them get their tickets there." Or put some signs up so people didn't have to stand in line twice for tickets.

2. I expect to pay high prices for concessions, but for Pete's sake, don't run out of popcorn in the middle of the first half!

3. The 2-3 times I went to the men's room, there always seemed to be something the matter. First it was overflowing toilets. Then an entire row of sinks wasn't working. Ford Stadium isn't that old, things should work properly. I saw custodians in there, but they didn't seem to be doing anything.

4. It's a shame the game had to start so early in the morning. I know AFB isn't a marquee game, but it would have been great to have a 2 or 4 p.m. kickoff so we can spend more time on the Blvd.

5. I won't re-write everything that's been said about the black jerseys, other than to say I liked them, but thought it was poor timing to do it when our opponent's main color is black.

6. The bowl game shirts for sale at the SMU bookstore sucked. They were boring, unimaginative and over-priced. I had no problem paying $20+ for the gray "Boulevard on the Beach" T-shirt that Student Union made last year, but this year's shirts were terrible.

7. Why did the stadium AV people start doing the kiss cam with 4 minutes left in the game?!?! The game was still undecided at that point, and during a break (can't remember if it was TV timeout, team timeout or both) they start doing the kiss cam instead of focusing on the action on the field. They could have played some music to pump up the crowd or something else to enhance the fan experience of what was happening on the field instead of distracting from it.

8. When it came to ticket assignments, I didn't like that I didn't know where my seats were until I got my tickets. I understand the reasoning of rewarding long-time donors and season ticket holders with preferential seating, but there are a lot of fans, myself included, that don't live in Dallas and it doesn't make sense to buy season tickets. Maybe they could have had an open window where big donors and season ticket holders could have picked and purchased their tickets and then let everyone else buy tickets and picked seats that were still available.

The sinks are not out, some of the motion detectors are delayed. It took me 5 games to figure that out. Do three hail Marthas with your hands under the faucet water will come forth!

Worst!!

It was solid purple both when I came in and when I left. I got behind some that had never been through airport security before. One guy put every item in one of the plastic tubs. 1 shoe in a tub. Second shoe in a tub. Wallet in a tub. Hanging bag in a tub. Carry on bag in a tub. He used 8 in all. Then lost his drivers license and had to wait while he found it. Cannot imagine what they will be like in California.

Myrdel, you have to remember that you are more sophisticated than most TCU/Fort Worth folk. Few TCU students have ever been out of the state, much less on an airplane. When a big plane goes over downtown Fort Worth, people come out on the sidewalk and point up in the sky. They still use eight tracks, and hand held calculators. They ride the Greyhound bus home for vacation. Only a few of their cars have automatic transmissions. When the Beverly Hillbillies went off TV, they pretty much quit watching. They still say "Neat!" Not much difference between them and the Baylor/Waco fans. Only us Stangs know how to go through security at an airport.

I was not trying to make light of the gentleman. He was very nice and was helping 2 women in wheel chairs. But he kept putting each item in an individual bucket. Even put his carry bag and hanging bag in one. Literally used 8 buckets for what he was carrying in his hands. I was trying to help him but when he went back to get another large bucket in which to put his wallet, I just smiled and waited my turn.

:D

The female TCU fan decked out in purple lost her carry-on bag going through the x-ray machine at DFW yesterday.

They had announcements until the plane departed that all TCU fans needed to check their bag to see if it was indeed their own.

They even had the Police on a Segway Human Transporter riding throughout the Terminal checking individual bags.

How you can lose your bag from one end of an x-ray machine to the other is almost beyond comprehension!

If the parachute team didn't jump, then it's probably the weather's (wind's) fault.

Sarcasm dude, sarcasm. The jump was cancelled due to low ceiling and it was announced more than once. But as you can tell, our duty on this board is to blame SMU for everything.

Agreed, they were swarming the place. Thankfully none were on my flight, but I did have two Army guys sitting in the same row. Of course, the one on my side of the plane had to ask why Padron played so poorly. :x

I knew it was sarcasm, just figured that those of us who weren't there might want an explanation.

FWIW, I'm familiar with people blaming a school (or one specific person) for every single thing that goes "wrong." Happens all the time on our board.
