You would have seen many "Mature Ponies --no blue hair, thanks) standing and cheering through the whole game. I love your ideas of how to improve enthusiasm. I wish you the best of luck in your venture and would support you any way possible. I only wish my two family alumni and myself were young enough to join you. We will do our best cheering over in the MC section. Good luck to all of you, however, please do not dismiss those loyal SMU fans who love our school.

Ditto. Class of '67. Can't yell as loud or as long as I once could, but I don't mind standing most of the game and making noise. However, I am down on row 4 and if I stand too long, there are a lot of people behind me who are also going to have to stand to see and not all of them will be happy about that so I try to be somewhat considerate and only do it when the team needs that extra amount of support. A rowdy section or two or three would be fun to see.

Section 104 row 7 8. 9. on the north side is as loud as you want.
We sit down once in a while not to block the view but no one is going to tell us to sit down.
Even the coaches want to kick our [deleted]. Don't make me hurt your fist on my face
Only thing is you can't get a seat there! I have a couple of blue hairs on my chest but I think I got them.

I can vouch for my good friend Dave on this! We have seats in the first couple rows of 203, and there are too many old folks in our section, or just people that act old.

If anything I or anyone else said inferred that we are trying to create divisions of some sort then something was either misunderstood or (more likely) expressed in a poor manner on my part.

I think most agree that the support of the "mature" fans (or whatever you want to call them) is less of a problem than those alums from the last 20-25 years. We are trying to call for those fans to up their support to a level of the older (and hopefully the most recent) alumni.

I can touch his bald head he sits two feet away. I moved over to that side of 104 this year because all my pals are on that side and they ain't sleeping. They made be buy 4 seats but as it turns out I dont have to give the two extras away any more.

MM65 was a one man Bleacher Cheerleader last Friday-just make sure to duck if he throws a cup of ice against bleachers. Heck I bet Stallion is a bigger Chearleader than most of you crazy kids with your IPods, your gold necklaces and black Affliction T-Shirts and at least I know when to Cheer

It is great up there because I never have to worry about standing up and blocking any one's view. Does anybody know whether MM65 "pulled a Herkie" up there last week because he got a big rise out of the crowd

Were you the guy with the TCU Rose Bowl hat in 120 on Thursday?

I apologize if I offended anyone here with my post. My intention was not to call out the die hards that post here, but to call out my fellow young alums. It is only natural that the older fans will not be as loud as the younger fans. At the same time it is frustrating when I am the only one yelling defense and can't get anyone to follow along. That's it.

Rowdy Section! Hell yes. Vuvazellas, Chants, Cow bells, all of it. When I started going to Dallas Burn games we always sat with the Inferno, great times. I bring my teen kids to SMU games (soccer and football) and they are always the loudest in the stands and they complain about all the quiet people who sit on their hands, (which I always thought was a Dallas thing). I'm in my 50's but would prefer to sit and scream amongst the passionate and loud.

I find it odd that few posters refer to the great times in the mid 60's when SMU played a great schedule (Auburn, Ohio State, Purdue, Florida, Mizzou, Miami etc) exciting games with LeVias, Hixson, Hammond, White, Perez et al. SMU football isn't only the Pony Express, it just stopped there until now. Am I the only one who remembers the Bluebonnet Bowl victory over OU? What about those who saw Kyle Rote, Doak Walker, [deleted] Reinking play? (I have a sheet with those three autographs on it)

I have a friend who said that you were brave to walk across campus wearing a UT shirt in the 60's. Nowadays I have to give students grief on a daily basis for wearing USC, 'Bama, UT, A&M, Rice, Ugh, TCU stuff.

Rowdy section, count us in and woe to those who give us ugly looks!

Why on earth DO people sport other colors at a game?
At least have one on that belongs at the game your attending. That really disturbs me.

CoxMustangFan wrote:I contacted SMU about creating a new "rowdy" section (perhaps 109/209). The person I e-mailed thought it's a "fun idea" and is going to look into it. I'm sure many of you have contacts within the Athletic Dept so please try to offer your ideas/support for this idea. I think there is plenty of time to get SMUer's idea off the ground for 2011!

Can we put it in a section that is moderately priced? I'd like to be part of this but I can't really justify dropping $1000 on the donation required for 50 yard line tickets.
