Rumor has it that Ponydoh is forming a new bball fan club called ‘ the doh-ples’ The club is for fans who will blindly follow doh like sheeple.
In support of the new fan club coach(?) Doh announced a new group of recruits for next years bball team. They are: Play-doh ( an expected leader and playmaker on the team) Phi-doh (the token frat member on the team) Robo-doh ( plays without thinking) No-doh (good player but needs some outside financial assistance) Go-go doh (converted dancer with nice moves, expected to slip into the offense very easily)
Doh states that this will be a good team but have no expectations. He is really looking forward to the recruits he has lined up for the 2019 class. He says they will be very exciting.
Doh is now trying to negotiate a 20 yr. extension to his contract so he can continue to recruit. It is rumored that he told Orsini that the ‘trust me’ clause in his current contract would suffice instead of any performance objectives or milestones. Said his track record of building winning, championship teams should be sufficient.
GO PONIES!!!

I don't think PonyDoh wants Doh back any more than the rest of us do

From reading his past threads, PonyDoh does not want Doh back but does believe Doh can win with the next class coming in due to talent (if he some how stays). This is where I think he has a big hangover.

wow, you spent quite a bit of time, for that post to flail so miserably. You do humor about as well as you know hoops.
Used To Be, I believe Doh can do a helluva lot better w/elite talent, but that applies to every coach in America. He's not special in that regard. Can he take very good talent to an elite level, probably not. I'd prefer to see someone different.
The job is rehabbed at this point, and that's always been my point from an industry perspective. I make my money in basketball & marketing, talking to coaches, reps, aau types, handlers, hoops promoters, apparel lackeys etc, all day, every day. Meanwhile redpony day trades, so he clearly has his finger on the pulse.

Correct, and it's not an accident that our Texas recruiting picked up after the tragic death of Jimmy Tubbs. If you want coaches to send players to the Hilltop, you need to hire their friends...and certainly not trump up excuses to fire them.

Our only difference is I don't think having Doh around another year is worth it even with elite talent. Seems like keeping someone on life support when you know there is no hope.

Well, Dement wasn't a particularly good bench coach, but had pretty good talent, minus good bigs. He also recruited to, and played in a far better league. Ultimately, we won 20+ games b/c we had some marquee kids, not b/c he ever out X and O'd anyone. Mostly, we've performed to the level of our talent under Doh. He can't coach them up, but it's not like he's getting killed on the bench over the past 2. Of course, he's responsible for the lack of talent, but that seems to have changed. We're about to be a Texas-heavy roster in one year, in about the time the guy said it would take to rebuild the roster. Took way too long, I don't like him as our coach, but if the talent issue goes away, and we stack the roster, thats 90% of it. Coaching can't be more overrated. The reality of AAU is that any given summer, the best teams in America, w/2 or 3 years maturation(not coaching), are final 4 caliber. Load up the roster, wins will come, no matter who is coaching. The problem w/Doh returning is that to break in an all new roster, and see appreciable success, I bet Orsini green lights Doh for another awful schedule.

which I could see leading to a 12-1 non conference and 8-8 conference schedule. 20-9..and everyone talks about a "20 win season"...go to the conf tournament, one and done, then go to the crappy CBI.
I guess that's progress though

that seems about right. We'd buy our way into the CBI w/20 wins, guaranteed. Its progress when you consider how many 20 win teams we've had since the mid/late 90s, even if we're a paper tiger.
