![]() This is the cover of a little booklet handed out to the SMU team that flew to Atlanta to play Ga. Tech. The booklet has information about Braniff, the plane, the course and city information. Interestingly, in the history of Atlanta, Braniff printed, "Atlanta has been almost destroyed by fire twice since it was founded in 1836.The first by General Sherman's troops. The second time fire struck was in 1917. (Braniff predicts a third catastrophe to strike Atlanta on the afternoon of September 22, 1951 in the vicinity of Grant Stadium." Unfortunately, SMU lost that day 7-21. Last edited by ponyte on Mon Aug 16, 2004 9:34 pm, edited 1 time in total.

![]() This is All-American fullback Fosse Johnson of Rice. I think the SMU player is Bill Fox (52?). This is from the 1953 game. SMU won that day 12-7. Rice went on to play in the Cotton Bowl that season and the famous Tommy Lewis coming off the bench to tackle Dicky Maegle happened in that Cotton Bowl game. ![]() Pinky Clements (22) catches a 17 yard pass from Hixon during the 1968 Bluebonnet Bowl win over Oklahoma 28-27. Jerry Levias (23) and Ken Fleming (85) are also in the vicinity. Last edited by Diehard Pony on Tue Sep 07, 2004 1:54 pm, edited 1 time in total.
