Will he lose the whole year if he doesn't play the second semester? Seems like it would be smart if we waited for him to start at the beginning of the next basketball year.

From the way I hear it being explained, because of his age, he only gets next year regardless so he might as well play this year also.

as I understand it, this is correct. He has to petition to the NCAA after next year for a 3rd.
