Grapevine DE

Insiders says we're one of four "favorites" for Grapevine DE Darius Warner. In the story, it says he's 6-4, 250, 4.9. In his profile, he's listed at 6-2, 240, 4.75. Says his favorites are Texas Tech (offer), OSU, SMU and K-State, and that he'd like to take some visits.

My question is: if those first numbers are accurate (updated since the others?), how could we NOT offer him? He sounds like the big DE we need. Anyone know how legit those numbers are?

the numbers in the story are generally anectodal and unreliable-the numbers in the profile are always based on combine measurements if they attended and are more accurate.

Let's assume Stallion's right and the profile numbers (6-2, 240, 4.75) are accurate. How do those numbers compare to the size and speed of other DEs (Kevin Aldridge, Luke Johnson, etc.)? I would think this guy might grow into a more imposing DE prospect, and it can't hurt to open a pipeline to Grapevine. They crank out a lot of good players.

If it matters, I have him listed at 6-3, 240, 4.8 -- a fluctuation in weight that could be accounted for by the size of a player's lunch. What I like about Warner is his blue-collar approach. He's never gotten too much attention, because there always seem to be more highly-touted players either on his team or at least in his district. But here's a guy who goes 100 MPH on every play. He's pretty strong for an incoming HS senior, and holds his own against all but the very biggest offensive linemen. In the tape I've seen, he shows good quickness when chasing the QB, and stuffs the run better than many HS defensive ends. Doing the dirty work doesn't seem to be a problem with this guy. And I don't think he's quite done growing. He might still have another inch or so to go.
