Former Waxahachie wide receiver Aldrick Robinson has been selected to play in the 86th annual East-West Shrine Game at 4 p.m. on Jan. 22 in Orlando, Fla.

The SMU player capped his final with the Mustangs by posting a school-record 14 touchdown catches this year to go along with 1,301 yards, the second highest single-season total in school history. For his four-year career in Dallas, Robinson finished with 181 catches (fourth all-time) for 3,314 yards (second all-time) and 30 touchdowns (second all-time).

Robinson, who will play for the West Team, is the third SMU player to take part in the game over the last three years. New Orleans punter Thomas Morstead (2009) and Pittsburgh wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (2010) were the previous two. This year’s teams will be coached by former NFL head coaches Dan Reeves and Wade Phillips.

The East-West Shrine Game is the longest running collegiate all-star game and has produced 62 NFL Hall of Famers.

The stop in Orlando won’t be the only all-star appearance for Robinson, who will head to San Antonio for the NFL Players Association Game at 3 p.m. in the Alamodome on Feb. 5. Previously called the Texas vs. The Nation Game, the NFLPA contest pits a team made up of players from around the country against a team made of players with strictly Texas ties.

Headed out to the Alamodome to root for our guy Al. Hope he has a great game. Paper says there are 253 scouts attending.

Go AR! Have a game like the Hawaii Bowl. Game on today at 1:00 on CBS C TV, same station that showed plenty of our games.

I'll bet JJ wished he had had KP instead of that pathetic QB Van Camp from Florida Atlantic on that final series.

No AR and he wasn't listed in the program. I am guessing the subject of the post was false and he was never supposed to be here. June and Jeff were present along with Jerry, but never saw Elvis.
