During this win streak, JFrog has 27 assists and 9 turnovers, that is a 3 to 1 ratio which is pretty dang impressive for anyone, but especially a freshman.

If memory serves me correctly, BHOP over his entire career at SMU had the same amount of assists and turnovers.

Is our RPI out of the 200 zone yet? Without some improvement there, we get no post season unless we win the CUSA tournament. Last time I checked it was 217.

I wouldn't say that. RPI is helpful and if you're thinking NCAA or NIT, that's fine. We're trying to be more realistic. I don't think the CBI or CIT tournaments weigh those as heavily as they do just looking for goot matchups. Maybe that's not right.

Plus, you have 4 more postseason teams entering postseason play this year with the NCAA tournament adding those extra games -- a good idea I think.

So if you have 68-69 in the NCAA, 32 in the NIT, 32(?) in the CBI and 16(?) in the CIT, that's 148-149 teams doing something. About or more than half of the DI teams have one shot to make a tournament (1-bid leagues). So they weren't going to be in that discussion anyway. If SMU stumbles its way into or near 20 wins, I'm thinking the Mustangs have a pretty decent chance to go somewhere.

What does anybody else think.

Ridiculous Case Scenario: We win C-USA. I think all of the people on this forum might collectively explode if this happens. Pony-Doh gives out 3,000 hugs, and his arms fall off.

Best Case: We win 20+ games, get to the Semis/Finals of C-USA and are invited to the NIT. Then, we make it to Madison Sq. Garden, and Mitch buys us all tickets to the game.

Realistic: CBI-hey postseason is postseason.

Meh Case: CIT

Worst Case: We 7 straight and finish 6-10, lose in the 1st round and are not invited to any postseason tourneys.

Thoughts from last night:

This team jelled when Mangrum was elevated from bench sitter to playing significant minutes/starter...
Dia is absolutely a different player this year - his moves around the basket are so much more polished......
Samarrippas plays with no fear......
Doh's substitution patterns drive me nuts.......
Our current starting 5 execute our defense very well. When we substitute, things get very wobbly......
Mangrum needs more shots....He was open a lot last night and the other players didn't find him.......

RPI is 209 according to RealtimeRPI.com which has been a pretty accurate source over the past few years.

Here's the rest of our schedule:

@ 58 UTEP
@ 203 Houston
vs. 94 Tulsa
vs. 172 Rice
@ 63 Marshall
@ 84 UCF
vs. 58 UTEP

Five games vs. Top 100 teams...that will bring the RPI up. FYI, they predict us to go 3-4...with wins over Tulsa, Rice, and UTEP at home.

A friend who does not follow SMU basketball closely asked me what seed SMU would get if we won out for the regular season and won the conference tourney. I guessed 11-12, but I really had no clue. Anyone care to speculate?

I say 13...just as long as we play thursday/friday and not in one of the play-in games.
