Men's Basketball Hosts Jacksonville Saturday In CIT Second Round

March 16, 2011

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's basketball team will host Jacksonville (20-11) in the second round of the 2011 CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) at Moody Coliseum on Saturday at 2 p.m. SMU defeated Oral Roberts 64-57 in overtime in the first round on Wednesday. It marked the first postseason victory for SMU since 1988. The Mustangs (18-14) have already clinched their first winning season since 2002-03.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday and start at just $10. To purchase, call the SMU Ticket Office at 214-SMU-GAME (768-4263) or click here.

The CIT is a 24-team tournament. Four of the teams that win first-round games will advance to the quarterfinals. SMU is one of eight teams that will play for the right to advance to the quarterfinals.

SMU already has its highest win total (18) since 2002-03 and had its most league wins (8) in Conference USA. Three Mustangs earned Conference USA postseason honors. Senior forward Papa Dia was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. Dia also made the All-Conference USA First Team, Conference USA All-Defensive Team and NABC All-District 11 First Team. Junior forward Robert Nyakundi was named to the All-Conference USA Third Team and senior guard Collin Mangrum earned selection to the Conference USA All-Academic Team.

Suprised they didn't announce a time yet. That will hurt ticket sales a bit. Guess its maybe up to the Tourney officials to set it.

Either way, Ill be there!
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

The seniors get yet another game at Moody. I would hope there will be more than 1,050 next time.

Direct hit on Spring Break week will limit fans again and no students on campus...no traffic in Dallas this week ...Alumni band played last night and never saw those SMU cheerleaders before either.

I'll try and get to it. Soccer game at 12:30 and a long drive over to Dallas. Just have to play it by ear.
