I don’t know how anyone can say we have a better chance against Gunn?? He was very good against Northwestern. We will have to play our best to slow down Gunn and the frog offense. Then after TCU we will face our biggest challenge, stopping Vernard Morency. He is the real deal.
BTW, I thought Saturday’s game was the most positive game we have had under Bennett. We were competitive against a middle of the pack Big XII team. Hopefully, we can build on that performance.
Warren and Lowery both had some nice grabs... of course, it's impossible for me to know who missed what throws and who's fault it was (WB or reciever?) because of the Swannys constant [deleted].
BTW did anyone ever answer the question, why was Avery Cleveland in street clothes?
I could be wrong, but I think I heard Avery was in street clothes because he's had a nagging hamstring problem, and Bennett wanted him to completely sit on his butt until it heals.
The earlier post about how hard Adami works is so true. Mr. and Mrs Adami have raised a herd of great young men. I feel confident that some NFL team will pick Adami up and make a good DE out of him.
Go Mustangs and fight like an Adami agaist TCU. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re:
I don't know if he is quick enough to play DE in the pros, but how cool would that be! You're right about the Adami boys - great players, great representatives of our school.
TCU v. SMU Point SpreadTCU is a 23 point favorite this weekend. Any thoughts? Looks like the Ponies will cover a lot of spreads this year since the bookies aren't giving them much credit for improvement.
Holding TT to 27 is a good start. If we can hold them to 27, we have a chance against the Froggies whose line is not as big as the Techsters. But we need to score. If we only put 6 on the board in the first half, we'll lose. We need to score at least 14 points in the first half to stay in the game. If we score 21, then we would be in great shape to steal a win. I think that since we run essentially the same offense as Northwestern this could be a good game. Phillips is quicker than the NW qb so I think he could actually go for some long runs because the Frogs use man to man and double teams often. On the other hand it would be nice to see someone who can air it out on their defense.
I agree....I did not see receivers get open very often. Its too easy to give the QB blame/credit. Its hard to go vertical with limited size at receiver. Why are we so critical of our QB's? I thought they did an outstanding job......especially Phillips.
Stang 33,
I think Eckert played great.....a matter of fact you can find a thread about a week ago where I was upset because I thought he was named the No. 3 QB (DMN) which I didn't agree with. Everyone else on the board was on the Romo bandwagon......where are they now? Eckert has looked sharp in real "game" situations....i.e. scrimmages and Tech. I put an emphasis on Phillips only because I really feel like he gives us the best chance to win when you consider our limitations at O-line and WR. I am not a advocate of switching out QB's, so I want to see Phillips the starter without any questions. No arguement here that Eckert is a better pure passer....
Re: TCU
Please, please come into this game thinking that TCU has and "awful defense." With this attitude you're gonna have a long day. TCU has beaten SMU 5 years straight. by a combined score of 158-36. SMU was winless last year and now they are going to cruise past Top 25 TCU? Do you realize your team only had 7 TD's all season last year...and now you're going to "run wild on TCU's defense"....TCU has had the #1 Defense in the Nation twice in the past 4 years, not exactly the team you want a winless SMU to try and compete against. As for the "TCU gets torched by everybody"....over the last 12 months (15 games) TCU has given up an average of 21 points a game. Considering we shut down Top 25 teams like Boise State, UAB, Louisville, and Northwestern....don't expect winless SMU (who has only score 8 TD's in the past 14 games) to "torch the TCU defense" Very funny post. SMU is improved but TCU is way better than TECH. TCU is on a totally different level than Tech, we've been Top 25 for 4 years and put together 3 10-win seasons, and 7 straight bowls. Last week was an average opponent, this week will be your wakeup call to Big Time college football. This will make 6 straight......Cross Town Whipping Boy!
Re:
We're one game into the season, relax. TCU is receiving votes and will continue to climb up the polls. Last year, TCU didnt' start Top 25 but made it #6 in a matter of weeks. TCU is the opposite of UT, we start out with little pre-season hype and finish much better than out preseason ranking, where UT is preseason Top 5 and never finishes Top 10. TCU should crack the Top 25 after Tech game, being 3-0.
A thing I do worry about is the fact the TCU has extra days to prepare for us.
Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
