Good to know! I'll remember that next time I'm in town.

INO is only open Frisco and Allen, but you should drive over to the one on 75 to recon.

Burger wars, re-visited

Went to Five Guys for the first time today at lunch. Great burger! Would give the Point Burger a run for its money if they served beer.

That's like saying a Nissan Sentra would give a Lamborghini a run for its money if it had wider side mirrors.

Five Guys burgers aren't bad, but comparable to a Point Burger? Not even in the same stratosphere.

Not having had the chance to sample many of the burgers on here, what does your ideal burger look like? Cheese or no and what kind? How greasy? Lettuce, onions, tomato? What kind of bun if any? Any nontraditional toppings (such as onion rings, for instance)? How thick the patty? How many patties?

One patty is OK, two are better - preferably about the size of a manhole cover. Not too greasy, not too dry. Rich flavor, preferably something that gives it a "smoky" flavor as if grilled over mesquite or hickory.

Definitely cheese - cheddar or Swiss. Or both.

Onions - red ... lots, and raw. Tomatoes. Lettuce is optional. Not only are pickles prohibited, they can't even be on the plate, lest the juice run into the burger or bun and ruin it. Anyone who throws on something non-burger-ish (like guacamole) should be prohibited from discussing burgers ever again ... or having one.

Mayo is optional, ketchup is mandatory. No mustard - ever.

Beer - cold and something with flavor, like Carlsberg or Grolsch.

For me it's two medium-sized patties (not thin and not too thick) medium rare with jalepeno jack cheese good and melted on top of each patty. Give me grilled onions, sliced bread and butter pickles, and mustard on a Jakes-style poppyseed bun. I want grease dripping off that bad boy.

Maple and Motor is exactly what I want in my burger joint. Don't know of any green chili cheeseburgers this far east.

It's the Jake's burger of the month right now - but I don't know if it is just until the end of May.

I hadn't been to the San Francisco Rose (on lower Greenville) and was surprised that I enjoyed the burger more than I expected. The bun was pretty weak, and the waitress apparently couldn't differ between American and Swiss cheese, but the burger itself was terrific.

Wow - I haven't eaten there in probably five years (and I only live a block and a half away!).

I do remember their burger being decent though, and it sounds like the service hasn't changed!

It's still a fun little place - it is what it is...
