Ohio, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Kansas State were among the schools showing Collins strong interest this time around

From article...

No mention of SMU

Probably no interest, I mean how many offensive JUCOs have the staff ever pursued?

A couple but not many. Do you think we should have or still should pursue this one?

If that's story is right, it tells me that the staff was no longer interested in Collins and moved on.

Who knows? Maybe they looked at the classes he was taking at Kilgore and thought, "this stuff isn't going to be accepted by the school.'' If that was the case, then that means he would have been jumping through more academic hoops to get in here.

That may be an element in it as well.

Why is June Jones placing signees in Junior College if we aren't going to sign them when they are successful. Jones references Signing and Placing all the time. Collins was a definite take. I think he compiled those stats despite missing at least a couple of games. Think he also was a top KO returner

I say don't bother, I'm assuming he'd be coming in with only 2 left to play and he'd be way behind the other WRs in understanding of the offense. Plus there could still be academic issues, I mean the coaches must have forgotten about this guy for a reason.

just about every JUCO we recruit and sign was a non-qualifier out of high school. We don't sign first year JUCOs or even mid term JUCOs- we sign the guys who are struggling to graduate from JUCO in a full 2+ years and don't get here until August. Collins reportedly will report to TCU in January meaning he is on track to graduate from JUCO in 1 1/2 years. Next completely unknowledgeable conjecture.....

At the signing day party, June said Ricky Collins fit his system better than any of the other wide receiver recruits due to his speed and he expected him to see the field early. Later that night, Rivals reported he was headed to Juco. I bet the reason he did not end up here is because SMU would not take all of his credit hours. Schools like TCU, UTEP, Tulsa, and Houston seem to get more Juco's on their rosters because they are willing to accept the Juco credit hours while SMU won't. I think it sucks he is not heading to SMU but until SMU takes the Juco credit hours I do not expect to see many Juco's on the roster in the near future.

This is complete BS now-sorry SMU is letting in just about anyone they want from JUCO these days that graduates from JUCO. Do you guys even read about some of the JUCO kids we offer-and I mean its bottom of the barrell stuff. Ryan Clark that heralded 4 Star S who had decommitted from Tech and dropped in our laps, the Miles Mason kid, that kid from Mississippii with the weird name we signed, the Maurice Hood kid. Just a few of many examples-they were all non-qualifiers and they all struggled to graduate from JUCO. Every JUCO we have signed has been a late qualifying JUCO. Next excuse-update your excuses people or get a Rivals subscriptions.

Well, when your 4-year school is of Juco quality, it makes the transfer of hours easier.

According to the 2010 college admissions stats, SMU accepted 54%, while TCU accepted 53%.

It has been well documented that TCU had 19,000 application requests this year, so the acceptance rate will be somewhat less. The over/under on SAT scores for the 2 schools wasn't all that different, either.

3 years left (I believe).

TCU rivals site says 3 to play 2.
