Tom Lemming was saying during the E-W (HS)All America game that Florida could lose about half of its commitments in the next 10 days if they don't hire someone like Bob Stoops.
Stoops was in Gainesville yesterday and Florida's AD is making an announcement Monday.
The same logic could be applied to OU. If OU doesn't replace Stoops if he leaves they could lose some real gems. This could be Bennett's golden opportunity to put together one hell of a team (better than Fresno this year).

Good idea, '06. I think it might be a tough sell, because most of the kids who have committed to OU were considering teams like Texas, Arkansas, LSU, A&M, K-State and Nebraska. So if Stoops leaves for the Gators, it might be tough to get them to Dallas. But it sure would be nice. Just 1 or 2 would work for me. Maybe some of those who were considering K-State before committing to OU are aware what a great coach Bennett is, and would be willing to listen to what he has to say.

I too would like us to get some kids that might change their minds as the coaching world changes, but I don't see us getting too many that might have been on the florida/ou range. As for us getting a better incoming class than other WAC teams, we shouldn't knock fresno. Hey, they work hard for kids out here. They signed our area's #1 recruit. Kid has terrific speed and agility. They also snapped up some other kids. Sacto area isn't deep in talent, but produces some very good players. (O. Smith at oregon, stallworth at tenn., fasani at stanford among them.)
Anyway, let us hope that Bennett can have the impact he should seem to have.

NoCal - be true to Crimson and Navy - and why root for a redneck team from a redneck valley in the redneck part of California - that has an odd - ugly - green V on the back of their helmet for no reason.

'06, don't worry, I have no love for fresno state. I was merely trying to make a point. I hope the Ponies can get recruiting impact from Bennett. Seems like a good fit for the school. As I've stated, I'd like my kid to play for such a coach. I just wanted to point out that in the area I live in, there is some good talent. For some time, it was ignored, but no longer. Some top talent is getting picked up by top schools, (and some not so top schools.)
Which brings me back to my point. We play out west now, and shouldn't be so quick to ignore it. Of course, we need to recruit well in Texas and Dallas, but shouldn't forget the areas we play in. Here in Sacto, kids get recruited to all areas. One went to miami, one to tennessee, lsu, oregon, and on and on. Kids even go to u of nevada! I mean, we ought to get them to Dallas, which is a better place than Reno! Two big kids here are named Dallas, both signed with usc. Why shouldn't we try to get them to the city of their name?

we don't recruit California because of budget limitations. If a kid is interested in us, we are easy to find, but money is better spent recruiting in the 300 mile radius Bennett referred to when he was hired.

CP, I know we are hampered by budget constraints. I hope and realize that priority #1 is getting the kids in the greater Dallas area first, then Texas, then nearby states (primary are ok, and la.) When we can do that well, we ought to consider places with large talent pools, like florida and cal. To not do so would not do justice to a long range thinking.

I can live without the California kids. But we need to stay visible in Florida.
