A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? It really sounds like there is a lot of smoke here. The talk appears to be the Aggies going to the SEC as early at 2012. The thinking is nothing new and that A&M is tired of playing second fiddle to Texas and wants to leave -- rivalry be damned and that they would join the SEC West.
I would think the SEC finds a new team for the SEC East. Clemson? The other presumption is that Texas breaks off to become an independent. I don't know how that affects Oklahoma or OSU but an Aggie friend of mine said his A&M Rivals site is blowing up with this talk. What has anyone else heard?
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?Where are you reading this? Not that it's not true.

Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?I was talking to a A&M grad. He said it's on A&M's Rivals site. Im basically repeating what the theme has been. That's really all I know other than I threw in the speculation about Clemson. But I thought I heard Clemson's name thrown in there a time or two in the past.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?I think it would be a great move for the aggies i remember well the game they used to play with LSu every year for a bit there it was good for both .And its no secret across the country they are the longhorns doormat.Texas is going to kill what ever is left of the big 12 with their arrogance and greed
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? Thanks General. The next thing you know you'll be saying that TTech is trying to go to the PAC-12.

Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?I think the Big 12 caving on the Longhorn Network was the last straw. And people just don't like that.
Does anyone even know how many deals ESPN has struck with cable companies and dish providers? I have not heard anything about this. This network has the potential of being what Cue Cat was for the DMN about 10 years ago.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?I can tell you it has gotten the horns alot of bad radio press down here in Houston 99% of the time its talked about its bad for them I cant beleive they didnt see all the bad press coming over this
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?
Apparently, there is a thread on OU's Rivals site about A&M's intent to leave. There's also a rumor floating out there that West Virginia is or has accepted a ACC invite.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?church I pastor down here has several folks well connected with the Aggie leadership that have indicated that inquiries are indeed very real...take all of this as a reaction/response to LHN and other brute-force moves by Texas to do what they do-dominate the landscape. A&M is just preparing for the day that Texas announces the Big 3 and the seven dwarfs is dead, and it is moving on plans so they will not be caught like we felt at the breakup of the SWC. The thing that rankles the Horns is the now very real notion that UT's hand may be pushed by A&M and OU, rather than vice versa.
Take it as loading the cannons and clearing the decks...the first shot hasn't been fired, but will make one heckofa whallop when it is. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?Man thats brave of WV with FSU and the canes coming back strong
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? From what I hear A&M is not the only or first schools looking to leave Big 12...
And a certain conference out east could benefit while leaving UCF, Houston, SMu(not that we were ever really in the picture) at the alter... Could work out for us, as it is our only chance to move conferences...
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?TTEch has no shot at pac....they are done with expansion unless UT wants to join...and they dont...
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?Read Above...Big east could come away a winner in this...
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?I will say this. I would rather wait to see this come from a reputable news gathering source to see where this is at. I wouldn't count this thread as such a reputable news gathering source. But this is also a message board so it does create a lot of talk.
We'll see how this goes down.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? If the Chips fall right the break up of the big 12-2 could actually benefit SMU. Lets say the Aggies and OU leave. Texas is left with an 8 school conference which is not enough to remain a BCS conference without any other major football power. The answer? join another conference (which they won't do because of the LHN), go independent (which I don't think the legislature will allow via baylor/will hurt all other sports significantyly), or reform into a 12 team+ conference. so who yould the new 4 schools be? I think U houston, SMU, TCU and Tulsa makes sense (obviously there can be some subs if these teams aren't interested, like UTEP or UFC, or Tulsa)
