Injured UTEP Player?

Postby Insane_Pony_Posse » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:10 am

sorry if this has been answered in one of the many UTEP threads...
but does anyone know how it turned out for the injured UTEP player?
that had to be taken off the field on a stretcher in a Care Flight Ambulance
looked pretty scary....hope he is ok.

Latest news I can find on Germard Reed is that the x-rays and CT scans on his neck came back normal but they are waiting on MRI results. He is able to move his arms and legs which is definitely a good sign. He stayed the night in Dallas and was expected to go back to El Paso yesterday. I'm keeping him in my prayers as you never want someone hurting like that.

From the El Paso Times
Germard Reed's neck injury ended up not being as bad as it looked, when the game was stopped for 15 minutes as he was loaded onto a stretcher. He initially didn't have movement in his arms and legs, but regained it before he was loaded into an ambulance.
At a Dallas hospital he made a quick recovery, though he will be held overnight as an MRI is evaluated.
"All his strength is back in both legs and his hands," coach Mike Price said. "Everything checked out just fine. From what the doctors say, he's fine, but he still has a sore spot in his neck."

Sounds like he is going to be ok. Thank God..

That scared the bejaysus out of me. I hate seeing stuff like that. Glad he is ok.

I spoke with a parent of one of the UTEP players this morning. The injured player took a knee to the back of the head when he went low to block (the penalty). He got knocked out. That was the reason for having him taken off the field with that amount of care. You just can't be too careful. Everything has checked out and they think he is fine.

I guess he should learn to play within the rules...

But glad he's ok. That was a pretty tense 15 minutes for everyone in the stadium.

I'm glad he's okay, but I hope that keeps him from going after the knees of another player in the future.
