However, you have to give him and his staff credit for developing bennett's last recruiting class into some pretty good players as seniors today.

Plus the fact that regardless of their talent level (I liked those guys a little more than you do, apparently), the players Coach Jones inherited were not recruited with the idea that they would play in the Run-and-Shoot.

It would be like recruiting a bunch of English majors and sticking them all in physics classes. Yes, they're smart students but their background and talents fit another system. It's no wonder that first year had a disappointing record.

The fact that he has a winning record (18-14) since then, as he has recruited players for his and Coach Mason's systems, also is no surprise.

He had to recruit better athletes and upgrade SMU's facilities. And raise attendance and support. Jones perhaps has an even bigger challenge than Meyer.

Much bigger challenge and it took Meyer 5 years to have a winning season, albeit against tougher competition.

all I know is that it would be a very special accomplishment if this team could get JJ to a .500 record by season's end. Would be quite a going away gift from this senior class, but must begin this weekend to have any hope of delivering

The difference between Top to Bottom in CUSA has always been miniscule compared to the difference between the Haves and Haves--Nots in the SWC. Nevertheless Meyer cheated his [deleted] off. But its also a fact that from Day 1 the SMU job was a better job than just about any school in CUSA when evaluating on the resources and standards of the schools. We should never lose to ANY of these schools except maybe UH

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

Wow, you are the thinnest veiled TCU fan. Why hide your loyalty and pretend to be an SMU fan worshiping the toads? That is so pathetic.

Shouldn't you be out raising $100 million in two weeks (I call the biggest BS on that statement). Btw, we have multiple NFL starters.

It's about time June produces a big time win. Except for the rivalry aspect, I'm not sure TCU even qualifies this year, A&M would have.

I think a win against a Top 20 team would qualify as a big win. Jones doesn't have one. What's his biggest win, ECU, Tulsa???? Finally beat a BCS team (Wash St), nothing else. Jones is over rated. He took UH to 12 wins and got blown out in the Sugar Bowl.
